Susceptibility of Anticarsia gemmatalis, Helicoverpa zea, Chrysodeixis includens, Spodoptera exigua, and Spodoptera frugiperda to a mexican isolate of nuclear polyhedrosis virus from Anticarsia gemmatalis

International Journal of Tropical Insect Science, 2019
The goal of this study was to document the susceptibility of Anticarsia gemmatalis Hubner, Helicoverpa zea Boddie, Chrysodeixis includens Walker, Spodoptera exigua Hubner, and Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith to a field-collected isolate of nuclear polyhedrosis virus from Anticarsia gemmatalis (AgNPV).

Physical maps and virulence of Anticarsia gemmatalis nucleopolyhedrovirus genomic variants

Archives of Virology, 1999
Seventeen plaque purified isolates of two viral preparations of Anticarsia gemmatalis multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AgMNPV), were analyzed in terms of the genomic changes after digestion of their DNAs with HindIII and PstI restriction enzymes. The 1979 AgMNPV wild type preparation (AgMNPV-'79) resulted in six different variants and the 1985 viral ...

Intestinal proteases profiling from Anticarsia gemmatalis and their binding to inhibitors

Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 2021
AbstractAlthough the importance of intestinal hydrolases is recognized, there is little information on the intestinal proteome of lepidopterans such as Anticarsia gemmatalis. Thus, we carried out the proteomic analysis of the A. gemmatalis intestine to characterize the proteases by LC/MS.

A Midlatitude Survival Model of Anticarsia gemmatalis (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

Environmental Entomology, 1990
Midlatitude survival of Anticarsia gemmatalis Hubner, the velvetbean caterpillar, is related to cooling degree-days (°C-days < 10.9°C). Model construction required a cooling degree-day algorithm and spatial distributional-data of velvetbean caterpillar populations in Florida from November to March (inclusive).

Characterization of the Ecdysteroid UDP-Glucosyltransferase (egt) Gene of Anticarsia gemmatalis Nucleopolyhedrovirus

Virus Genes, 2001
The Anticarsia gemmatalis nucelopolyhedrovirus (AgMNPV) egt gene was cloned, sequenced and its expression characterized by RT-PCR and western blot analysis. Sequence analysis of the gene indicated the presence of an open reading frame (ORF) of 1482 nucleotides, which codes for a polypeptide of 494 amino acids.

Chlorantraniliprole degenerates microvilli goblet cells of the Anticarsia gemmatalis (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) midgut

Chemosphere, 2019
Anticarsia gemmatalis Hübner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is mainly controlled with synthetic insecticides such as chlorantraniliprole. However, these compounds may affect non-target organs of insect metabolism. The objective of this study was to evaluate the toxic effect in the midgut goblet cells of A.

Characterization of an Iridescent Virus Isolated from the Velvetbean Caterpillar, Anticarsia gemmatalis

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1995
An insect iridescent virus has been isolated from diseased velvetbean caterpillars, Anticarsia gemmatalis, found in Argentina. The cytopathology is similar to that reported for other iridescent viruses with infected larvae exhibiting blue-purple opalescence.

Intestinal proteolytic profile changes during larval development of Anticarsia gemmatalis caterpillars

Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 2019
AbstractSoybean is one of most consumed and produced grains in the world, and Anticarsia gemmatalis is a pest that causes great damage to this crop due to severe defoliation during its larval phase. Plants have mechanisms that lead to the inhibition of proteases in the intestine of these herbivores, hampering their development.
