Nitric Oxide‐Releasing Catheters with Phenol‐Amine Catalytic Coatings for Improved Anti‐Inflammatory Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Tannic acid‐selenocystamine (TA‐SeCA) nanocoating enables stable, sustained catalytic nitric oxide (NO) release on catheter surfaces. This one‐step phenol‐amine coating improves catheter functionality by enhancing endogenous NO production, supporting vascular function, and reducing inflammation.

Combination of Polydopamine and Plasma Oxidation to Increase Tissue Integration of Polyurethane‐Silicone Copolymers for Cardiovascular Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Plasma oxidation following polydopamine deposition can significantly reduce the surface hydrophobicity of polyurethane‐siloxanes without impacting surface roughness, thereby increasing fibroblast viability, adhesion, and extracellular matrix production and secretion.

λ-Carrageenan Oligosaccharides of Distinct Anti-Heparanase and Anticoagulant Activities Inhibit MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cell Migration

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2019
In tumor development, the degradation of heparan sulfate (HS) by heparanase (HPSE) is associated with cell-surface and extracellular matrix remodeling as well as the release of HS-bound signaling molecules, allowing cancer cell migration, invasion and ...

Evidence of Songbird Intoxication From Rozol Application at a Black-Tailed Prairie Dog Colony [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Concerns about avian poisonings from anticoagulant rodenticides have traditionally focused on secondary poisoning of raptors exposed by feeding on contaminated mammalian prey.

Coagulation Matters: ATIII‐Enriched Biomolecular Corona Enhances the Hemocompatibility of PEG Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering of a functional protein corona with a synergistic heparin‐ATIII complex significantly improves hemocompatibility of PEG nanoparticles. Through deliberate engineering of the protein corona, a 4‐fold reduction in coagulation activation (F1 + 2) without inducing adverse thromboinflammatory reactions (CD11b, C5a) is achieved without disrupting ...

Time in Therapeutic Range and Outcomes After Warfarin Initiation in Newly Diagnosed Atrial Fibrillation Patients With Renal Dysfunction

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
Background It is unknown whether renal dysfunction conveys poor anticoagulation control in warfarin‐treated patients with atrial fibrillation and whether poor anticoagulation control associates with the risk of adverse outcomes in these patients. Methods
