The Effect of Graphene on the Protective Properties of Water-Based Epoxy Coatings on Al2024-T3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
0.5 and 1% wt. of graphene nanoflakes were added to an anticorrosive additives-free water-based epoxy resin applied to Al2024-T3 samples. Calorimetric (DSC) and adhesion (cross-cut test) tests indicated that the presence of graphene did not affect the ...

Fundamentals of MXene Synthesis Steps and Their Characterization Techniques: Morphological, Structural, and Electrochemical Properties

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 7, 1 April 2026.
MXene phases are a family of two‐dimensional transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides that have rapidly expanded to include over 80 compositions since 2011. Due to their exceptional electrical conductivity, tunable surface chemistry, and versatile functional properties, MXene phases enable applications in energy storage, electromagnetic ...

Waterproofing and Anticorrosion Engineering Materials for Animal Husbandry Buildings Based on Polymer Modification

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 4, April 2026.
A novel multiphase composite was developed to prevent premature failure of waterproofing layers in pig houses. The system, comprising polyurethane, asphalt, and calcium carbonate, achieves a 1.35 MPa bonding strength and resists corrosion via a synergistic crosslinking, buffering, and passivation mechanism.

From 0D to 3D: Structural Design of Metal‐Organic Framework‐Derived Composites for Next‐Generation Microwave Absorption

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This review establishes a dimensional engineering paradigm for MOF‐derived absorbers, transitioning from discrete 0D units to 3D composite architectures. It highlights dimension–structure–performance correlations and provides insights into data‐driven and sustainable design for future high‐efficiency microwave absorption, aiming to guide the ...

The effect of varying carboxylic-group content in reduced graphene oxides on the anticorrosive properties of PMMA/reduced graphene oxide composites

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2014
We present comparative studies on the effect of varying the carboxylic-group content of thermally reduced graphene oxides (TRGs) on the anticorrosive properties of as-prepared poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/TRG composite (PTC) coatings.

Corrosion of bronzes by extended wetting with single versus mixed acidic pollutants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The corrosion of bronzes was examined in the context of single-acid versus mixed-acid (as in urban acid rain) solutions. Two bi-component bronzes (copper with either 3% Sn or 7% Sn) that closely represent those of historic artifacts were immersed for ...

Robust Amorphous Layer on Fe@Ni Foam for Highly Efficient Alkaline Seawater Oxidation Under High Current Densities

open access: yesSusMat, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
Benefiting from the high activity of the reconstructed phase, suppression of the chlorine evolution reaction via dynamic desorption and re‐adsorption of leached phosphate anions, and a self‐healing capability enabled by the redeposition of trace Fe ions, along with inherent superhydrophilic–superhydrophobic properties and corrosion resistance, the ...
