A comprehensive review of specific activity and intrinsic connections of food‐derived bioactive peptides for human health

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 1145-1165, May 2024.
This review provides an in‐depth exploration of nineteen types of food‐derived bioactive peptides, focusing on their intricate interplay and foundational functionalities, particularly antioxidant actions, in relation to human health. It emphasizes the complex yet crucial mechanisms of these peptides in various bodily systems and underscores the ...

Psychedelics Promote Structural and Functional Neural Plasticity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Atrophy of neurons in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) plays a key role in the pathophysiology of depression and related disorders. The ability to promote both structural and functional plasticity in the PFC has been hypothesized to underlie the fast ...

Effect of anti‐CGRP‐targeted therapy on migraine aura: Results of an observational case series study

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 30, Issue 2, February 2024.
This observational study involving a series of migraine patients affected by both migraine with and without aura reveals that anti‐CGRP antibodies induced a significant decrease in headache frequency of migraine without aura but not of migraine with aura attacks.

Combining Cox Regressions Across a Heterogeneous Distributed Research Network Facing Small and Zero Counts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Studies of the effects of medical interventions increasingly take place in distributed research settings using data from multiple clinical data sources including electronic health records and administrative claims. In such settings, privacy concerns typically prohibit sharing of individual patient data, and instead, analyses can only utilize summary ...

The Predominant Protective Effect of Tianeptine Over Other Antidepressants in Models of Neuronal Apoptosis: The Effect Blocked by Inhibitors of MAPK/ERK1/2 and PI3-K/Akt Pathways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Tianeptine (Tian) possesses neuroprotective potential, however, little is known about the effect of this drug in models of neuronal apoptosis. In the present study, we aimed (1) to compare the neuroprotective capacities of some antidepressants (ADs) in ...

More green space is related to less antidepressant prescription rates in the Netherlands: A Bayesian geoadditive quantile regression approach [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Research 2018, 2018
Exposure to green space seems to be beneficial for self-reported mental health. In this study we used an objective health indicator, namely antidepressant prescription rates. Current studies rely exclusively upon mean regression models assuming linear associations.

Multiply robust estimators in longitudinal studies with missing data under control-based imputation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Longitudinal studies are often subject to missing data. The ICH E9(R1) addendum addresses the importance of defining a treatment effect estimand with the consideration of intercurrent events. Jump-to-reference (J2R) is one classically envisioned control-based scenario for the treatment effect evaluation using the hypothetical strategy, where the ...

SERTRALINE AND MIRTAZAPINE AS GERIATRIC ANTIDEPRESSANTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Depression within the geriatric patient population is an important issue as it is associated with increased mortality. Such depression may have a different aetiology to that in younger patients and be associated with comorbid chronic physical
