Layer-by-Layer Self-Assembly Marine Antifouling Coating of Phenol Absorbed by Polyvinylpyrrolidone Anchored on Stainless Steel Surfaces

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Marine biofouling is a major problem that contributes to the failure of man-made marine structures. Conventional marine antifouling coatings that release heavy metal ions for antimicrobial purposes are no longer in line with today’s environmental issues.

Enhanced Anticorrosion and Antifouling Properties of Lubricant‐Infused Pyramidal Polydimethylsiloxane Coating

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, 2023
Although slippery liquid‐infused porous surfaces (SLIPSs) have been extensively studied for anticorrosion and antifouling applications, their durability and stability restrict their practicality.

A Hydrogen‐Releasing Nanozyme Engineers a Mitochondrial ROS Amplifier for Self‐Sustaining Catalytic Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed a RhPd‐H nanozyme that integrates enhanced POD‐mimetic catalytic activity with thermally triggered H2 release. H2 shields and reprograms mitochondria to continuously leak endogenous ·O2−. This dual‐path ROS spatially and temporally disrupts redox homeostasis, inducing persistent oxidative stress for tumor suppression and antitumor immunity,

Interface Wettability Transition‐Driven Drug Release and Dual‐Phase Functionalization in Implant Abutment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A temporally controlled drug release coating is developed for abutments using a superhydrophobic coating self‐assembled on mesoporous silica. This surface provides sequential functionality: initial contamination resistance through non‐wetting, followed by controlled drug release via wettability transition.

Antifouling Coatings Inspired by Biological Templates

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications
AbstractSurface fouling is a major concern in health care, marine industry, and water purification plants. Polymeric coatings are traditionally utilized to reduce the attachment of foulants on a surface, however low density and thickness of polymer brushes formed by surface initiated polymerization methods, surface exhaustion by continuous exposure to ...

Integrated Hydrophilic Interdigitated Network for Silicone Rubber via a Gradient Polarity Modification Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work overcomes the long‐standing challenge of hydrophilic modification of silicone rubber via a gradient polarity modification strategy. By constructing a hydrophilic interpenetrating network within cured SR, simultaneous surface‐to‐bulk modification is achieved while enabling monitoring through a Eu3+ complex fluorescent tracer.

Antifouling Protection of Surfaces Immersed in Marine Environment by Natural Surfactants as Bioactive Contained in Coating Based on Natural Resin

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
Surface biofouling of materials immersed in the marine environment is a problem that particularly affects maritime industries and equipment. The biological community present in these environments develops on the immersed surfaces of different structures,

Design and Application of Antifouling Bio-Coatings

open access: yesPolymers
Antifouling coatings stand out as one of the highly efficient ways to mitigate surface contamination. Traditional antifouling coatings have a major drawback: they rely on highly toxic and environmentally hazardous compounds. These substances not only lead to ecological harm but also disrupt the natural equilibrium of ecosystems. Consequently, in recent
