Objective Tissue‐specific biomarkers that are reliable and associated with clinical manifestations of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) are lacking. The blood circulation in individuals serves as a central conduit, allowing communication between tissues and facilitating clearance and recycling of tissue‐derived proteins.

Objective CASTOR1 senses arginine and regulates mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1), a central metabolic signaling molecule. This study aimed to elucidate the roles of CASTOR1 in humoral immune responses. Methods We analyzed human B cell transcriptomes from healthy controls and patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) via ...

Rheumatoid factor in rabbits with antigen-induced arthritis.
Rheumatoid factor was assayed weekly by hemagglutination in sera from rabbits with antigen-induced arthritis and from control immunized animals receiving intra-articular injections of saline. Both groups developed rheumatoid factor. Arthritic animals, however, maintained high titers of rheumatoid factor more persistently than controls.

Counting the cost: the current and future burden of arthritis
A major new report shows the growing multi-billion dollar costs of arthritis to the economy, individuals and to the healthcare system and how relatively small investments could yield savings of more than $170 million a year.

An investigation into the consequences of Salmonella infection of murine macrophages and dendritic cells: relevance to reactive arthritis. [PDF]
Reactive arthritis (ReA) is a sterile joint inflammation triggered by bacterial infection and is associated with the MHC class I molecule HLA-B27. Bacterial antigens have been detected in synovial tissues from ReA patients, but how they are transported ...

Objective Still disease (SD) is an autoinflammatory disorder characterized by remarkably high interleukin‐18 (IL‐18) levels. Increasing evidence suggests that adaptive immunity also contributes to its pathogenesis, particularly in refractory courses. Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS), one of SD's most severe complications, is associated with further

Early synovial regulatory T cell engagement in posttraumatic osteoarthritis
Objective Posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) develops despite restoration of joint biomechanics, suggesting that early post‐injury biological processes within the synovium shape disease trajectories. We investigated whether synovial regulatory T (Treg) cells are engaged during the early phase following joint injury and whether experimental enrichment ...
