Synthesis and characterization of light‐responsive donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASA)‐coated chlorhexidine‐loaded silica nanoparticles. Such a controllable drug‐delivery system enables the release of the antimicrobial drug on demand and in consecutive cycles, thereby maintaining the concentration within the therapeutic window.

Exploring the evidence base for national and regional policy interventions to combat resistance [PDF]
The effectiveness of existing policies to control antimicrobial resistance is not yet fully understood. A strengthened evidence base is needed to inform effective policy interventions across countries with different income levels and the human health and

LL‐37 Driven Phase Transition and Stacking in Oligolamellar Gram‐Negative Bacterial Membrane Models
This work establishes oligolamellar bacterial membrane models to investigate how LL‐37 disrupts the complex dual‐bilayer architecture of Gram‐negative bacteria. Combining SAXS, cryo‐TEM, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and coarse‐grained simulations, it reveals cardiolipin‐driven phase transitions leading to bicelle‐like structures and membrane ...

Bacterial Growth Kinetics under a Novel Flexible Methacrylate Dressing Serving as a Drug Delivery Vehicle for Antiseptics [PDF]
A flexible methacrylate powder dressing (Altrazeal®) transforms into a wound contour conforming matrix once in contact with wound exudate. We hypothesised that it may also serve as a drug delivery vehicle for antiseptics.

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Use of Estimating Equations for Dosing Antimicrobials in Patients with Acute Kidney Injury Not Receiving Renal Replacement Therapy. [PDF]
Acute kidney injury (AKI) can potentially lead to the accumulation of antimicrobial drugs with significant renal clearance. Drug dosing adjustments are commonly made using the Cockcroft-Gault estimate of creatinine clearance (CLcr). The Modified Jelliffe

Biocompatible but Antibacterial Mechanism of Graphene Oxide for Sustainable Antibiotics
Graphene oxide (GO) exhibits selective antibacterial activity through specific interactions between its oxygen functional groups and bacterial membrane phospholipid POPG, causing membrane destabilization while maintaining biocompatibility. Model membrane studies and infected wound models in mice and pigs demonstrate effective bacterial suppression and ...

Bacterial membrane vesicles restore gut anaerobiosis
Inflammation damages the epithelial cell barrier, allowing oxygen to leak into the lumen of the gut. Respiring E. coli and other Enterobacteriaceae produce proinflammatory lipopolysaccharide, exacerbating inflammatory bowel disease.
