Determination of antimicrobial activity of ethanolic extracts from some kinds of raw materials with tannins

open access: yesAnnals of Mechnikov's Institute, 2020
This paper presents data about determination of antimicrobial activity of extracts from some kinds of raw materials (13 plants) with tannins. It was determined some kinds of technological parameters of extracts (concentration of total solids and density).

Photo‐Controlled Antibacterial Drug Release From DASA‐Coated Silica Particles for Improved Treatment of Wound Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synthesis and characterization of light‐responsive donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASA)‐coated chlorhexidine‐loaded silica nanoparticles. Such a controllable drug‐delivery system enables the release of the antimicrobial drug on demand and in consecutive cycles, thereby maintaining the concentration within the therapeutic window.

Antimicrobial Activity of N-hexane Extracts of Red Frangipani (Plumeria Rocea) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Antimicrobial assay of n-hexane plant extracts against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus had been done. Extraction with n-Hexane of the flowers yielded 2,08% of extract, while leaves and stems yielded 3,21% and 2,19% of n-hexane extracts ...

LL‐37 Driven Phase Transition and Stacking in Oligolamellar Gram‐Negative Bacterial Membrane Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work establishes oligolamellar bacterial membrane models to investigate how LL‐37 disrupts the complex dual‐bilayer architecture of Gram‐negative bacteria. Combining SAXS, cryo‐TEM, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and coarse‐grained simulations, it reveals cardiolipin‐driven phase transitions leading to bicelle‐like structures and membrane ...

Biological Activities of Extracts from Sumac (Rhus spp.): A Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Sumac is the common name for a genus (Rhus) that contains over 250 individual species of flowering plants in the family Anacardiaceae. These plants are found in temperate and tropical regions worldwide, often grow in areas of marginal agricultural ...

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Antimicrobial Activity of Naphthyridine Derivatives

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
To combat the problem of the increasing drug resistance of microorganisms, it is necessary to constantly search for new medicinal substances that will demonstrate more effective mechanisms of action with a limited number of side effects. Naphthyridines are N-heterocyclic compounds containing a fused system of two pyridine rings, occurring in the form ...
