An Antimicrobial, Cell‐Adhesive, and Growth Factor‐Producing Living Material Engineered From Bacillus subtilis Biofilms for Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Bacillus subtilis is engineered to produce cell‐adhesive biofilms by functionalization of its biofilm scaffold protein TasA with a cell‐adhesion sequence. Living bacteria within the biofilm are also engineered to secrete growth factors and natively produce antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), resulting in a cell‐adhesive, antimicrobial, and growth factor ...

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Antimicrobial Effects of Sodium Tripolyphosphate Against Bacteria Attached to the Surface of Chicken Carcasses

open access: yesLWT - Food Science and Technology, 1997
Abstract Sodium tripolyphosphate was evaluated using microbiological plating and sensory tests for its ability to decrease spoilage flora on chicken carcasses. The treated and control carcasses were kept at 4 °C and examined separately at days 0, 2 and 4 and every day thereafter to 10 d. The data showed the spoilage bacteria were always significantly

In Vivo Monitoring of Thrombo‐Inflammatory Biomarkers via Molecularly Imprinted Polymer‐Integrated Hydrogel Microneedles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A wearable electrochemical microneedle patch integrates Prussian Blue redox transduction with molecularly imprinted polymer recognition for reagent‐free sampling and detection of thrombo‐inflammatory biomarkers in dermal interstitial fluid. The platform tracks thrombin and inflammatory cytokines with sensitive in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo performance,

Vitamin D analogs differentially control antimicrobial peptide/"alarmin" expression in psoriasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are strongly expressed in lesional skin in psoriasis and play an important role as proinflammatory "alarmins" in this chronic skin disease.

Novel antimicrobial and bioactive resin-based clear aligner attachment orthodontic materials

open access: yesFrontiers in Oral Health
IntroductionClear aligner orthodontic treatment provides a hygienic and esthetic alternative to fixed appliances; however, the required resin attachments can promote plaque accumulation and increase the risk of white-spot lesions in enamel. This study aimed to develop a novel resin-based antibacterial and bioactive orthodontic clear aligner attachment ...

Self‐Assembling Copolymers Encapsulating Single Endothelial Cells Induce Endogenous ECM Deposition and Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the first demonstration of stable sub‐50‐micron single‐cell GPM vesicles fabricated through the intrinsic self‐assembly of an amphiphilic copolymer. Hierarchical assembly of cell containing GPM vesicles into microspheres enable tunable, sustained cell delivery with immune protection.
