Antimicrobial effects of silver nanoparticles

Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine, 2007
The antimicrobial effects of silver (Ag) ion or salts are well known, but the effects of Ag nanoparticles on microorganisms and antimicrobial mechanism have not been revealed clearly. Stable Ag nanoparticles were prepared and their shape and size distribution characterized by particle characterizer and transmission electron microscopic study.

Antimicrobial effects of photodynamic therapy

Giornale Italiano di Dermatologia e Venereologia, 2018
The microorganisms that cause infections are increasing their resistance to antibiotics. In this context, alternative treatments are necessary. The antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) is a therapeutic modality based on photosensitizing molecules that end up generating reactive oxygen species that induce the destruction of the target cells when ...

Neuropsychiatric Effects of Antimicrobial Agents

Clinical Drug Investigation, 2017
Antimicrobial drugs used in clinical practice are selected on the basis of their selective toxicity against bacterial cells. However, all exhibit multiple offsite interactions with eukaryotic cell structures, resulting in adverse reactions during antimicrobial pharmacotherapy.

Antimicrobial effects of oligoamines.

Archiv der Pharmazie, 1997
Twenty-four oligoamines belonging to six (1-6) structurally different types were tested in vitro for their antibacterial activity against 14 different bacterial species comprising a total of 187 strains. Ten compounds were able to inhibit growth of at least one strain at concentrations < or = 10 mumol/L.
