Assessment of Biosecurity Status in Commercial Chicken Farms Found in Sebeta Town, Shaggar City, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Overall, 61.25% of the farms had a good biosecurity score (above 50%). Most farms had basic measures such as fencing (93.75%) and footbaths (100%). While most farms showed good biosecurity management, the identified gaps in waste disposal, visitor precautions, and dead bird management highlight a need for improved biosecurity measures.

Gems From the Caves: Genomic Insights Into the Biosynthetic Potential of Antimicrobial‐Producing Bacteria Associated With Tropical Cave‐Dwelling Sponges

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our study reveals that cave‐dwelling marine sponges host bacteria with antimicrobial activity against multidrug‐resistant strains. The bioactive Pseudomonadaceae strains exhibited biosynthetic clusters encoding both characterized and putative antimicrobial compounds and peptides. The findings highlight their potential for discovering novel biomolecules

Anthropogenic Disruption Versus Natural Restoration: Enterobacter cloacae‐Driven Barnacle Larval Settlement and Its Mitigation via Natural Bacteriophages

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
Anthropogenic‐derived E. cloacae colonises marine cooling water systems, where chlorine exposure drives cross‐resistance and enhances biofilm formation, creating hotspots for barnacle larval settlement. This work reveals a previously unrecognised mechanism linking microbial pollution to marine biofouling.

Characterisation of a Novel Jumbo Lytic Aeromonas dhakensis Bacteriophage P19 and Its Endolysin

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
A jumbo, lytic myovirus phage P19 against multidrug‐resistant (MDR) Aeromonas dhakensis was isolated from river water. P19 demonstrated robust lytic activity, high thermal and pH stability (pH 6–10, up to 60°C), and no genes associated with lysogeny, virulence or antimicrobial resistance. ORF_358 of P19 encodes for T4‐type lysozyme.

Antibiotic Usage Patterns of Community‐Dwelling Adults in Thailand: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, Volume 82, Issue 1, Page 414-427, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To investigate factors predictive of antibiotic use behaviour in the community. Design A cross‐sectional study was conducted from May to November 2023. Method Standardised instruments were administered to patients who had received services from nurses in sub‐district health‐promoting hospitals in Thailand for at least one of the three ...

Genetic Diversity of Polymyxin Resistance Genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae Clinical Isolates

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 2, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the genetic diversity and evolutionary mechanisms driving polymyxin resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae, a critical priority pathogen. By analysing mgrB, phoPQ and pmrAB genes in susceptible (PM‐S) and resistant (PM‐R) populations through neutrality tests (Tajima D, Fu & Li's D) we uncovered polygenic adaptation and ...
