Mitigating Dexamethasone‐Induced Muscle Wasting and Mitochondrial Impairment in Mice on a High‐Fat and High‐Sucrose Diet With Peanut Sprout Extract

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Peanut sprout extract (PSE) significantly attenuated skeletal muscle atrophy induced by a high‐fat, high‐sucrose diet and dexamethasone, improving muscle strength and reducing triglyceride accumulation and inflammation. It enhanced mitochondrial function by upregulating TFAM and OXPHOS proteins and partially restoring PGC1α expression.

C9orf72 Repeat Expansion Induces Metabolic Dysfunction in Human iPSC‐Derived Microglia and Modulates Glial‐Neuronal Crosstalk

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 1, January 2026.
C9orf72 microglia display heightened glycolysis and oxidative stress, driving astrocytic reprogramming that impacts motor neurons. iPSC tricultures uncover key glial–neuronal interactions in C9orf72 pathology. ABSTRACT The C9orf72 hexanucleotide repeat expansion mutation is the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and ...

Lipoic Acid Ameliorates Lipopolysaccharide‐Induced Inflammation via Inhibition of Glycolysis in RAW264.7 Macrophages

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Anti‐inflammatory mechanism of Lipoic acid. LA and siRNA‐HIF1α inhibited the expression of HIF1α and inflammatory factors such as IL‐6, IL‐18, TNF‐α, and IL‐1β in LPS‐induced macrophages. The researchers showed in this work that the anti‐inflammation was achieved through HIF1α/glycolysis axis.

Efzimfotase Alfa Improves Respiratory Capacity in Muscle Tissue From a Mouse Model of HPP

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 67, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is an inherited metabolic disease caused by deficient tissue‐nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and characterized by skeletal and nonskeletal symptoms, including muscle weakness and fatigue. We hypothesized that mitochondrial respiration is impaired in muscle in HPP, independent of skeletal manifestations ...
