Medial medullary infarction caused by antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-related vasculitis: Case report and review of the literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Rationale: Medial medullary infarction accounts for less than 1% of brain infarctions, and medial medullary infarctions is very rarely caused by antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis.Patient concerns: We report the case of a 76-

Interleukin‐5, Eosinophils, and Interleukin‐5 Pathway Inhibitors in Eosinophilic Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Interlukin‐5 (IL‐5) plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) by promoting eosinophil differentiation, activation, and survival. We present here a typical case of EGPA in which treatment with IL‐5 pathway inhibitors is prescribed, showing to be beneficial for the patient.

ANTINEUTROPHIL CYTOPLASMIC ANTIBODY-ASSOCIATED VASCULITIS IN “REAL LIFE” – SERIES OF CLINICAL CASES IN A ROMANIAN REFERENCE CENTER [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Rheumatology, 2017
Introduction. Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) associated vasculitis (AAV) represent a group of conditions evolving with necrotizing inflammation in small and medium-sized blood vessels. AAV are composed of GPA (granulomatosis with polyangiitis,

Prediction of Relapse and Glucocorticoid Dependence in Eosinophilic Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis: Findings From a Large European Cohort

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a small vessel vasculitis characterized by eosinophilia, asthma, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) involvement. Although glucocorticoids (GCs) are effective in controlling symptoms, relapses and GC dependence are common. The aim of this study was to develop predictive models for vasculitis

A Case of Rituximab Use as an Induction and Maintenance of Remission in ANCA-Associated Vasculitis

open access: yesCase Reports in Rheumatology, 2016
Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody- (ANCA-) associated vasculitis (AAV) is a multisystem autoimmune disease affecting mainly microscopic blood vessels due to circulating autoantibodies against neutrophil cytoplasmic antigens.

Hepatitis B virus induced cytoplasmic antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-mediated vasculitis causing subarachnoid hemorrhage, acute transverse myelitis, and nephropathy: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2017
Background Transverse myelitis, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and nephropathy are established but rare complications of hepatitis B virus infection that can potentially be triggered by an antibody-mediated vasculitis as a result of a viral infection.
