Antireflective Bilayer Metasurfaces: Towards Zero Reflection

open access: yesOptica Design and Fabrication Congress 2025 (FlatOptics, Freeform, OFT)
We propose a bilayer metasurface approach that minimizes reflections at both air-metasurface and metasurface-substrate interfaces while providing 2 π -phase control. Simulations of a 0.36-NA TiO 2 metalens show 98.5% transmission built using a library ...

Plasma‐Sequence‐Engineered Atomic Layer Deposition of Ultra‐Thin SiNx for Enhanced Etching Resistance in Extreme Ultraviolet Pellicles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 11, 9 June 2026.
Plasma‐sequence‐engineered ALD (PSE‐ALD), based on sequential NH3 and N2 plasma pulses, enables ultrathin, dense SiNx films. ToF‐MS analysis confirms ligand removal via HCl evolution, while increased film density indicates network densification. The resulting SiNx coating provides robust protection of graphite under H2 plasma exposure.

Fabrication of micro hole array on the surface of CVD ZnS by scanning ultrafast pulse laser for antireflection

open access: yes, 2017
Chemical vapor deposited (CVD) ZnS is a promising long-wave infrared (8-12 mu m) window material. Yet antireflection is necessary since Fresnel reflection from its surface is high due to the high refractive index of ZnS.

Engineered Interfacial Control for Suppression of Phase Instability: Operando Visualization from Device to Module Scale

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
Operando real‐time current density–voltage absorption spectroscopy visualizes spatial phase evolution in mixed‐halide perovskites from device to module scale. Phase instability preferentially initiates in regions with insufficient carrier extraction, revealing electrical boundary conditions as governing factors.

A Numerical Investigation of Metamaterial Antireflection Coatings

open access: yes, 2020
: Electromagnetic metamaterials have emerged as a new class of effective media where exotic properties are determined from structural geometry and dimensions of the basic building blocks, or meta-atoms.

Understanding UV‐Induced Degradation Mechanisms in SHJ Solar Cells and Their Reversibility: The Role of Hydrogen and Doping

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, Volume 34, Issue 6, Page 643-652, June 2026.
This study investigates the UV‐induced degradation of silicon heterojunction cell precursors by isolating the impact of subcell layers under controlled UVA and UVB irradiation. Front hydrogenated amorphous silicon (i/n)a‐Si:H selective layers are identified as key degradation sites, leading to significant losses in minority carrier lifetime and iVoc ( >

Liquid PV Module Encapsulation to Enable Circular Design

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, Volume 34, Issue 6, Page 667-678, June 2026.
This study demonstrates a novel liquid encapsulation technology to enable circularity in c‐Si photovoltaic modules. The optical properties and power conversion efficiency of liquid encapsulation is similar to EVA encapsulation and better than air encapsulation.

Nondestructive Quantification of Water Ingress in PV Modules via Spectroscopic and Chemical Analysis for Enhanced Quality Assurance and On‐Site Inspection

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, Volume 34, Issue 6, Page 693-707, June 2026.
This study presents a novel, nondestructive in situ method to quantify water ingress using near‐infrared absorption (NIRA) spectroscopy, calibrated with absolute water content via Karl–Fischer titration (KFT). The presented approach offers a powerful quality assurance and inspection tool for module manufacturers and solar developers, supporting ...
