The graphical abstract shows how molecular biology research has shifted from using traditional animal models toward using methods that are more relevant to humans. It points out the main problems, differences between species, difficulty in reproducing results, moral issues, and lack of infrastructure that make translational accuracy harder to achieve ...

A Universal Nucleoside‐to‐Nucleoside‐5′‐Triphosphate Enzyme Cascade Driven by Polyphosphate
Nucleoside‐5′‐triphosphates (NTPs) are essential components for the generation of nucleic acids, yet their chemical synthesis is hindered by the low yield of nucleoside phosphorylation. Here, we present a universal, two‐enzyme nucleoside‐to‐NTP cascade that is driven by polyphosphate.

Experimental Evidence for a Metal‐Related Function of a Cyanobactin
Cyanobactins such as patellamides are produced by cyanobacteria profusely and have been studied extensively, but almost exclusively for their cytotoxic properties. Discussed is unprecedented experimental evidence for a metal‐related biological function – likely CO2 transport from the ascidian to the cyanobacterial symbiont.
