Innovative Integration of Layered Carbon Materials in Biopolymer Fibrous Membranes for Sustainable Water Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This review explores the progressive design of biopolymer‐based fibrous membranes enhanced with layered carbon materials such as MXene, graphene oxide, and carbon nanotubes. It highlights how their integration significantly boosts water filtration performance, selectivity, and antifouling properties.

Antiviral Activity of 3-Methyleneoxindole [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1974
3-Methyleneoxindole (MO), an oxidation product of the plant auxin indole-3-acetic acid, can selectively inhibit the replication of herpes-, mengo-, polioviruses, and Sindbis virus. The antiviral action of MO, a sulfhydryl binding compound, is neutralized by 2-mercaptoethanol if the latter is added soon after exposure of infected cells to MO.

Drug Repurposing to find Inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 Main Protease [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the strain of coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the respiratory illness responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently there is no known vaccine or specific antiviral treatment for COVID-19 and so, there is an urgent need for expedite discovery of new ...

Insights into the Dynamics and Binding Mechanisms of the Alkhumra Virus NS2B/NS3 Protease: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
The ΔRMSF$\Delta {\rm RMSF}$ analysis reveals significant flexibility differences between free NS3 and the NS2B/NS3 complex, with notable deviations in specific regions. Key residues driving NS2B binding are identified, and the protonation state of catalytic serine affects oxyanion hole formation.

Quercetin and quercetin 3-O-glycosides from Bauhinia longifolia (Bong.) Steud. show anti-Mayaro virus activity

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2014
Background The arthropod-borne Mayaro virus (MAYV) causes ‘Mayaro fever’, a disease of medical significance, primarily affecting individuals in permanent contact with forested areas in tropical South America. Recently, MAYV has attracted attention due to

Apoptotic Vesicles Derived from Mesenchymal Stem Cells Ameliorate Hypersensitivity Responses via Inducing CD8+ T Cells Apoptosis with Calcium Overload and Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The therapeutic potential of ApoVs derived from stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED‐ApoVs) in the treatment of CD8+ T cell‐mediated hypersensitivity reactions is noteworthy. SHED‐ApoVs are capable of fusing with the plasma membrane of CD8+ T cells, which subsequently triggers a series of events characterized by calcium overload ...

Antiviral Activities of Amniotic Fluid

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1981
AbstractBecause viral infection in pregnancy can be a threat to the developing fetus, the identification and quantification of any protective factors operating on behalf of the offspring may be important. We have, therefore, assayed human amniotic fluid for factors influencing viral growth and have found that such fluid does not contain substances with

Mining of high throughput screening database reveals AP-1 and autophagy pathways as potential targets for COVID-19 therapeutics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The recent global pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 presents an urgent need for new therapeutic candidates. Many efforts have been devoted to screening existing drug libraries with the hope to repurpose approved drugs as potential treatments for COVID-19. However, the antiviral mechanisms of action

Shrimp Virus Regulates ROS Dynamics via the Nrf2 Pathway to Facilitate Viral Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Viruses manipulate host ROS as a strategy to achieve successful infection. WSSV exploits Nrf2 pathway to maintain ROS homeostasis and establishes a positive feedback loop to facilitate WSSV replication. Wsv220 competitively binds to Keap1 to activate Nrf2. Nrf2 up‐regulates LvG6PDH to produce more NADPH and GSH to eliminate excessive ROS.
