Antonymy is defined as lexical-semantic category based on opposite meaning off two units. It is important characteristic of the language used in the medieval texts so in that context, antonymia is documented on historical level. Based on the mutual semantically relationship, there are gradual, complementary and vector antonyms.

The article analyzes the antonymous units, taking into account their peculiar syntagmatic features. It has been found that antonymous relations within the paradigm exist as prospective, based on semantics of opposed units. The actualization of antonymous relations is manifested through their opposition in speech.
