A common garden experiment supports a genetic component underlying the increased resilience of common cockle (Cerastoderma edule) to the parasite Marteilia cochillia

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 16, Issue 11, Page 1789-1804, November 2023., 2023
Abstract The common cockle is a valuable bivalve species inhabiting the Atlantic European coasts. The parasite Marteilia cochillia has devastated cockle beds in the southern Galician (NW Spain) rias since 2012. Previous data suggested that cockles from Ría de Arousa acquired some resilience to this parasite through natural selection after consecutive ...

Transcriptomic Divergence and Associated Markers Between Genomic Lineages of Silver Catfish (<i>Rhamdia quelen</i>). [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We present transcriptomic divergence between two latitudinally distributed lineages of Rhamdia quelen, which could explain local adaptations and the speciation processes proposed in previous studies. Moreover, the differentiation of transposable elements between lineages could also be associated with this speciation process.
