Abstract The rare, fastest-germinating, frequently invasive mucorale, Cunninghamella bertholletiae, is intractable due to its imprecise etiology. Cunninghamella bertholletiae spores can infect both immunocompromised and immunocompetent individuals to cause mucormycosis. Sub-optimal drug-susceptibility further limits its treatment options.
