Testing the efficiency of passive acoustic monitoring and active monitoring in anuran community in lotic environments in Itinguçu State Park, Peruíbe-SP [PDF]
The following work presents the first study applying the passive acoustic monitoring of anurans at lotic environments for a long time. This study aims to test the efficiency of the passive acoustic monitoring method and active monitoring in detecting ...

This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Feeding Mechanisms in Anuran Tadpoles [PDF]
I CAN confirm that the method of mucous cord feeding referred to by Dodd1 plays a part in the natural lives of tadpoles of Rana temporaria, Bufo bufo and Bombina variegata living under natural or semi-natural conditions. It is, however, remarkable that among the many tadpoles which have been examined, definite mucous cords have been seen in only a few.

Origami‐Inspired Structural Design for Aquatic‐Terrestrial Amphibious Robots
This work presents a lightweight amphibious origami robot actuated by a single shape memory alloy wire. A rigid foldable origami structure with displacement amplification enables efficient terrestrial crawling and aquatic swimming. The addition of fan‐shaped units allows controllable turning in both environments.

Thermal Plasticity is Regulated by a Key MicroRNA During Range Expansion of an Invasive Fruit Fly
Populations at the invasion front of Bactrocera dorsalis adapt through reduced phenotypic and gene expression plasticity, a phenomenon likely to be driven by genetic assimilation. We identify a key miRNA‐mediated regulatory axis, in which miR‐276b post‐transcriptionally represses thw, a conserved chitin‐binding gene critical to the cold‐tolerance ...

Predation Risk Experienced by Tadpoles Shapes Personalities Before but Not After Metamorphosis
Consistent inter‐individual differences in behaviour, that is, personalities, can emerge as a result of inter‐individual differences in ontogenetic experience, and predation risk is a potent one.

Ectodermal tissue excised from Xenopus embryos self‐organizes into a three‐dimensional mucociliary organoid. Here, we generate a neural variant, termed neurobot, by implanting neural precursor cells. Neurobots develop mature neurons, adopt distinct morphologies, exhibit more complex motility, and respond differentially to neuroactive compounds. Imaging

Frog Skin Innate Immune Defences: Sensing and Surviving Pathogens
Amphibian skin is a mucosal surface in direct and continuous contact with a microbially diverse and laden aquatic and/or terrestrial environment. As such, frog skin is an important innate immune organ and first line of defence against pathogens in the ...

Despite their detrimental effects on locomotion, prevalence of hindlimb abnormalities is increasing in anuran populations worldwide. Among others, agrochemical pollution during the larval stage is a potential cause. However, populations exposed to such a

Human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) was used to mimic T2DM, and Aβ42‐hIAPP co‐oligomers were delivered into the human mature cerebral organoids (COs), which reproduce typical AD pathology and significant neuronal death more closely resembling that of AD patients.
