Novel PLCZ1 mutation caused polyspermy during in vitro fertilization

open access: yesAsian Journal of Andrology
Failure of oocyte activation, including polyspermy and defects in pronuclear (PN) formation, triggers early embryonic developmental arrest. Many studies have shown that phospholipase C zeta 1 (PLCZ1) mutations cause failure of PN formation following ...

Stochastic factors drive dynamics of ammonia-oxidizing archaeal and bacterial communities in aquaculture pond sediment

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and bacteria (AOB) play an important role in nitrification, which is essential in the global nitrogen cycle. However, their dynamics and the underlying community processes in agricultural ecosystems under disturbance ...

A Large‐Scale Study on the Relation Between Multilingualism and Social Traits in Adults With and Without Autism Diagnoses

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by persistent difficulties in social interaction and communication alongside restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. Emerging evidence suggests that bi/multilingualism may enhance social interaction skills, yet prior research has largely ...

A Two-Step Strategy for the Rapid Enrichment of Nitrosocosmicus-Like Ammonia-Oxidizing Thaumarchaea

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) are widely distributed on the earth and play a significant role in the global nitrogen cycle. Although dozens of AOA strains were obtained in the last 13 years, it is still necessary to obtain more AOA strains for the ...

Anode/Electrolyte Interfacial Engineering Toward Sustainable and Practical Solid‐State Metal‐Sulfur Batteries: A Prospective Review

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Coordinated engineering of the anode, electrolyte, and interface underpins the rational design of next‐generation solid‐state metal‐sulfur batteries. Solid‐state metal‐sulfur batteries are emerging as a transformative energy storage platform with the potential to overcome the fundamental limitations of conventional flooded cells, particularly ...

Kinematic alignment, but not mechanical alignment, preserves the knee–ankle relationship after total knee arthroplasty: A retrospective radiographic analysis from the FP‐UCBM Knee Study Group

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Several alignment strategies have been proposed in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with the two extremes being mechanical alignment (MA) and unrestricted kinematic alignment (KA). While MA standardises coronal knee parameters to achieve a neutral alignment, KA reproduces each patient's native joint lines.

Semidefinite Programming Algorithms for 3-D AOA-Based Hybrid Localization

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing, 2023
By taking different kinds of measurements at the same time, it may be possible to improve the accuracy of target localization or reduce the number of sensors needed.

Microbially driven organic carbon cycling at the land−sea interface: Advances and an integrated study framework

open access: yesmLife, EarlyView.
Abstract The land−sea interface is a vital component of global biogeochemical cycles, where microorganisms drive the cycling of carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur. This review synthesizes the research progress from representative land−sea interfaces to elucidate how the microbial community structure and metabolic function influence the mobilization ...

A Simple AoA Estimation Scheme

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
We propose an intuitive, simple and hardware friendly, yet surprisingly novel and efficient, received signal's angle of arrival (AoA) estimation scheme. Our intuitive, two-phases cross-correlation based scheme relies on a switched beam antenna array, which is used to collect an omni-directional signal using few elements of the antenna array in the ...

Sinningia pampeana sp. nov. (Gesneriaceae) from the Pampa's rocky outcrops in southern Brazil and Uruguay

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Sinningia pampeana is a new rupicolous species from the rocky outcrops of the Pampa biome in southern Brazil and Uruguay. Morphological analyses based on herbarium material, field observations, and detailed illustrations support its recognition as a distinct species from Sinningia sellovii.
