AOB - an easily deployable, reconfigurable and multifunctional acoustic-oceanographic system
The concept of an easy to use and easy to deploy ocean acoustic tomographic OAT system is presented. The system is composed of a network of buoys and a data inversion online processor. This study concerns the individual node of that network—the acoustic-oceanographic buoy AOB —the data inversion technique and the testing of the system at sea.

Ammonia-Oxidizing Bacteria (AOB): opportunities and applications—a review
Reviews in Environmental Science and Biotechnology, 2018Recently, partial nitrification has been adopted widely as a first step of both nitrite shunt and deammonification processes towards efficient and economical nitrogen removal from wastewater. Effective partial nitrification relies on stimulating the first step of nitrification while inhibiting the second step and by consequence accumulating ammonia ...

Effects of ultrasonic treatment on the ammonia-oxidizing bacterial (AOB) growth kinetics
Science of the Total Environment, 2019Ultrasound has in the past few decades found applications in a variety of disciplines including chemistry, medicine, physics, and to a much less extent microbiology. Our previous studies found that ultrasonic treatment increases the activity of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) while suppressing nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB), resulting in beneficial ...

Correlation between nitrite accumulation and the concentration of AOB in a nitritation reactor
Environmental Earth Sciences, 2014Nitritation is an innovative biological nitrogen removal method in wastewater, and it has the advantages of energy and economy. The correlation between a nitrite conversion rate and the gene copy numbers of ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) in a nitritation reactor was examined to measure the effectiveness of removing a nitrogen content in a biological ...

Effect of ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) kinetics on bioaugmentation
Bioresource Technology, 2012Bioaugmentation with ammonium oxidizing bacteria (AOB) was tested for 620d. A seeding reactor (R1), two seeded reactors (R2 at 21°C; R3 at 15°C) and an unseeded-control reactor (R4 at 21°C) were operated in parallel (2 ...
