Prenatal Diagnosis of Horseshoe Lung: A Report of Three Cases and Review of the Literature

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Horseshoe lung is a rare congenital malformation in which the lungs are fused by a parenchymal isthmus. The current literature is very limited regarding cases of prenatal diagnosis and their outcome. Method We retrospectively examined three cases of fetuses with horseshoe lung diagnosed antenatally in our center from 2015 to 2024 ...

Partial cardiopulmonary bypass through left thoracotomy for coarctation repair in children

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery

Pregnancy Complications in Fetal Congenital Heart Disease: A Result of Common Early Developmental Pathways Rather Than Fetal Hemodynamics

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The aim of this study was to compare placenta‐related complications (adverse placental syndrome) between different types of fetal CHD based on cardiac hemodynamics. Method All CHD cases diagnosed prenatally by fetal ECHO during 2009–2023 were selected.

Coarctation of the aorta: pre and postoperative evaluation with MRI and MR angiography; correlation with echocardiography and surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aims: To compare MRI and MRA with Doppler-echocardiography (DE) in native and postoperative aortic coarctation, define the best MR protocol for its evaluation, compare MR with surgical findings in native coarctation. Materials and methods: 136 MR studies

Age‐Dependent Correlation of Pulmonary Function Impairment and Aortic Arch Stiffness in Mice

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
This study examined the relationship between aortic arch stiffness and lung function in aging mice. Multiple linear regression modeling showed moderate to strong correlations between the rise in aortic arch stiffness and changes in lung function as the mice progressively aged.

Assessment of Double Outlet Left Ventricle in Pediatrics Using Transthoracic Echocardiography and Computed Tomographic Angiography

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
The clinical manifestation of DOLV was atypical. TTE has a relatively high diagnostic accuracy for DOLV in pediatric, which is very valuable for its early detection. ABSTRACT Double outlet left ventricle (DOLV) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly in which both great arteries originate entirely or predominantly from the morphologic left ventricle.

Radiological Insights Into the Pericardium: A Comprehensive Review

ABSTRACT The pericardium is not simply a two‐layered membrane surrounding the heart and great vessels. Pericardial effusion is the most common manifestation of various pathological conditions involving the pericardium. Therefore, we are tempted to think of the pericardium as a virtual space containing only fluid, but it can also contain solid and ...
