Current Opinion in Cardiology, 2016
Recently, there has been a renewed interest with regard to surgical strategies for aortic valve preservation in the presence of isolated valve disease or concomitant aortic root disease, despite concerns having been raised about the mid/long-term durability of such repair techniques for the aortic valve.

Aortic Valve Repair for Congenital Abnormalities of the Aortic Valve
Heart, Lung and Circulation, 2006Due to shortcomings of any valve replacement, repairing and retaining the native valve may be beneficial for congenital aortic valve disease.Retrospective review of data and follow-up of aortic valve repair from a single institution. From 1993 to 2001, 56 patients underwent aortic valve repair [median age 13.4 years (range 1 day to 45 years)].

Aortic valve repair for aortic stenosis in adults [PDF]
The stenotic aortic valve was surgically repaired in 48 adults, 21 women and 27 men, aged 38 to 83 years. Five had congenital aortic stenosis (AS), with a mean aortic valve gradient and area of 58 +/- 23 mm Hg (standard deviation) and 0.54 +/- 0.13 cm2, respectively; 32 had senile AS with a mean aortic valve gradient and area of 43 +/- 20 mm Hg and 0 ...

Are bicuspid aortic valves a limitation for aortic valve repair?
European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2011To compare the mid-term results after aortic valve (AV) repair in bicuspid AVs with those in tricuspid AVs.Between 2000 and 2010, 100 patients (mean age 47.2 years) underwent AV repair procedures for insufficient bicuspid AV (n=43) and tricuspid AV (n=57).

Is Aortic Valve Repair Reproducible? Analysis of the Learning Curve for Aortic Valve Repair
Canadian Journal of Cardiology, 2015Aortic valve (AV) preservation and repair, although effective, is performed in a limited number of centres. Lack of wider application might be due to challenges in dissemination of tacit surgical knowledge. We examined the learning curve in 2 centres that initiated dedicated programs in AV repair.Prospectively collected data on the first 100 (cohort A)

Valve Repair in Aortic Regurgitation without Root Dilatation - Aortic Valve Repair
The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, 2006Aortic valve repair was established in the context of aortic root remodeling. Variable results have been reported for isolated valve repair. We analyzed our experience with isolated valve repair and compared the results with those of aortic root remodeling.Between October 1995 and August 2003, isolated repair of the aortic valve was performed in 83 ...

Aortic valve repair in dominant aortic regurgitation
The Japanese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2001We studied immediate and mid-term results after aortic valve repair.Immediate and mid-term results were studied in 63 patients undergoing aortic valve repair, calculating survival and reoperation free rates.Subjects were 49 men and 14 women aged 15 to 76 years (mean: 53 +/- 17 years). Mean preoperative aortic regurgitation grading of 1 to 4 was 3.2 +/-

The key for successful valve repair is full understanding of the regurgitant mechanism and sufficient evaluation of the valve. Currently, multidetector computed tomography has been introduced for evaluation. The aortic valve can be analyzed in details preoperatively.

Valve Cuspidity: A Risk Factor for Aortic Valve Repair?
Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 2014The aim of this study was to analyze short- and mid-term results after aortic valve (AV) repair with particular regard to the impact of valve cuspidity (bicuspid versus tricuspid aortic valve). One hundred patients with aortic regurgitation (AR) undergoing aortic valve repair between November 2007 and October 2012 were included in the study.

Aortic valve repair for papillary fibroelastoma
Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, 2006We report the case of aortic valve-papillary fibroelastoma in a 66-year-old Belgian woman with a previous single episode of cerebral transient ischemic attack. Transthoracic two-dimensional echocardiography revealed a small mass adherent to the noncoronary cusp of the valve, which was confirmed by transesophageal echocardiography.
