Histological Analysis of Cryopreserved Venous Allografts Used for Liver Transplantation and Hepato‐Biliary‐Pancreatic Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cryopreserved venous allografts, which we pioneered in 1999 for use in living donor liver transplantation and hepato‐biliary‐pancreatic surgery, are widely used and are believed to preserve vascular architecture with minimal anticoagulation or immunosuppression requirements and patency comparable to autologous grafts.

Catheter‐related bloodstream infections, infective endocarditis, and vertebral osteomyelitis in adults receiving home parenteral nutrition: A descriptive cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Intestinal failure patients receiving home parenteral nutrition are at risk of catheter‐related bloodstream infection. Metastatic infections include infective endocarditis and vertebral osteomyelitis. We aimed to investigate the incidences of catheter‐related bloodstream infection, infective endocarditis, and vertebral osteomyelitis

Relationship between bicuspid aortic valve phenotype, valvular function, and ascending aortic dimensions.

open access: yes, 2014
Background and aim of the study: Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is known to be associated with aortic valve dysfunction and ascending aorta (AA) dilatation. However, the relationship between BAV morphology and AA dimensions remains unclear.

Comparison of 3‐Dimensional Ultrasound and Computed Tomography for Imaging of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives Three‐dimensional ultrasound (3D US) is emerging as a novel imaging method for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) as it creates a low‐cost 3D AAA overview without harmful radiation and nephrotoxic contrast agents, as opposed to conventional imaging. 3D US can be used with a non‐nephrotoxic contrast agent (3D‐CEUS) for lumen delineation.

The Impact of Water Exchange on Estimates of Myocardial Blood Flow and Extracellular Volume Fraction Using Dynamic Contrast‐Enhanced MRI in Patients Treated for Severe Aortic Stenosis

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate the impact of intra/extracellular water exchange (WX) on quantitative dynamic contrast‐enhanced (DCE) MRI in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS). The aims were to compare low‐dose (WX insensitive) and high‐dose (WX sensitive) DCE‐MRI measurements, and to compare data acquired before and after aortic valve ...
