Brachycaudus species on herbaceous plants along highways in Hungary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Survey of aphids on dicotyledonous herbaceous plants along the Hungarian highways on 33 sampling points revealed the presence of four holocyclic Brachycaudus species. The monoecious B. lychnidis L. 1758 was the most frequently collected species.

Parasitoid species diversity has no effect on protective symbiont diversity in experimental host‐parasitoid populations

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2024.
Parasites play a crucial role in driving and maintaining the diversity of immune systems. Here we tested whether the diversity or parasites selects for the diversity of protective symbionts using an experimental evolution approach. Surprisingly, we found little selection for protective symbionts and little evidence for the diversifying effect of ...

Trophic impacts of a rolled‐rye cover crop on the lettuce aphid (Nasonovia ribisnigri) and associated insect fauna in cultivated Histosols

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 172, Issue 3, Page 215-228, March 2024.
The lettuce aphid, Nasonovia ribisnigri (Hemiptera: Aphididae), is a major pest of lettuce (Lactuca sativa, Asteraceae). In this study, we evaluated the impact of rye mulch (Secale cereale, Poaceae) on N. ribisnigri, its natural enemies, and alternative prey in organic soil. Our results showed that rye mulch has the potential to inhibit colonization by
