Toxicity of Four Common Environmental Chemicals Across Caenorhabditis elegans Life Stages Supporting the One Health Concept

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, Volume 41, Issue 8, Page 507-522, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Pesticides and pharmaceuticals are among the most common chemical groups in waterbodies and soils, and their universal distribution raises concerns about potential adverse effects on nontarget organisms and humans. Reproductive output disruption is of particular concern, as it transposes effects from the individual to the next generations at ...

Molecular Characterization of the Aphis gossypii Olfactory Receptor Gene Families

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, is a polyphagous pest that inflicts great damage to cotton yields worldwide. Antennal olfaction, which is extremely important for insect survival, mediates key behaviors such as host preference, mate choice, and oviposition site selection.

Competitive Interactions Between Generalist Predators and Their Effects on Shared and Non‐Shared Pests in a Greenhouse Crop

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 8, Page 831-841, August 2026.
Orius laevigatus engages in unidirectional intraguild predation on Transeius montdorensis. Despite this, both predators coexisted and suppressed the shared thrips prey. Aphids, a non‐shared prey, were effectively controlled by O. laevigatus even when its population was limited due to intraguild predation. T.

Occurrence of Lysiphlebus testaceipes parasitizing Aphis gossypii in watermelon in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil Ocorrência de Lysiphlebus testaceipes parasitando Aphis gossypii em melancia, no Estado do Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2010
This is the first report of the parasitoid Lysiphlebus testaceipes (Cresson) as a biological control agent of the aphid Aphis gossypii Glover in watermelon crop in Vale do Açu, RN.

Prey Range and Voracity of Main Insect Natural Enemies of Pests in Corsican Clementine Orchards

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 8, Page 851-862, August 2026.
To assess the biocontrol potential on the main arthropod pests of clementine orchards in Corsica, laboratory experiments were carried out using five potential predators. Their prey range and voracity were tested on three pest species. Then, a global predation rate index was calculated at the scale of the entire community of insect predators.

Cotton Recruits Soil‐Derived Delftia tsuruhatensis to Suppress Aphid Detoxification Via Salicylic Acid‐Mediated Defense

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 38, 9 July 2026.
This study systematically reveals a complex interactive network involving plants, microbes, and insects, elucidating the ecological and molecular mechanisms by which cotton enhances its resistance to aphids through the active recruitment of the beneficial soil bacterium Delftia tsuruhatensis.

The behavior of Aphis gossypii and Aphis craccivora (Hemiptera: Aphididae) and of their predator Cycloneda sanguinea (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) in cotton-cowpea intercropping systems

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2018
The intercropping is an important cultural practice commonly used in pest management. It is based on the principle that increased plant diversity in the agro-ecosystem can lead to reductions of pest populations in the crop.

Identification and Biocontrol of Mindarus japonicus Takahashi, a New Pest of Abies koreana E.H.Wilson Using Bacillus velezensis CE 100

open access: yesEntomological Research, Volume 56, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Subalpine conifers such as Abies koreana E.H.Wilson (Korean fir) play a significant ecological role but are increasingly endangered due to the effects of climate change, including the high prevalence of insect pests. This study identified for the first time, a notorious aphid pest on newly developed needles and twigs of A.

Aphis Gossypii Glover (Hemiptera, Aphididae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997

Mapping Determinants in Cucumber Mosaic Virus for Transmission by Aphis gossypii

open access: yesVirology, 1994
Determinants have been mapped in the coat protein of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) which influence transmission by the aphid Aphis gossypii. Chimeric RNA 3s were constructed which contain sequences from the efficiently aphid-transmitted strain Fny-CMV and the very poorly aphid-transmissible M-CMV. Analyses of chimeric viruses revealed that two regions in
