Insecticides and Aplastic Anemia

New England Journal of Medicine, 1963
TO prove that a drug or chemical has an etiologic relation to aplastic anemia is a difficult task. This is due mainly to the low incidence with which their use is followed by the disease, making it necessary to accumulate a sizable number of suspicious cases to find a statistical argument in its favor.

Aplastic anemia or aplastic preleukemic syndrome?

Annals of Hematology, 1997
The incidence of aplastic anemia appears to be relatively high in some parts of the world, including Pakistan. Since some of the etiological factors are shared by aplastic anemia and the preleukemic syndrome, there is a strong possibility that a proportion of cases of aplastic anemia may in fact be preleukemia.

Aplastic anemia in the orient

Aplastic anemia (AA) is more common in Asia than in Europe or the United States. This may be due in part to the high incidence of hepatitis-associated AA in Asia. The management of AA has evolved rapidly in Japan during the last decade. Advances in the treatment of AA have largely been the result of prospective collaborative studies of ...
