CENTRAL SLEEP APNEA [PDF]

open access: yesOtolaryngologic Clinics of North America, 1996
A central sleep apnea is the absence of respiratory effect, and, thus, the absence of airflow during sleep. Central hypopnea, a related disorder, is also discussed. The sensory component of central sleep apnea; defects involving the integrative and executive neurons; non-neurologic causes of central sleep apneas, including chronic obstructive pulmonary

Red Blood Cell Membrane Lipidomics: Potential Biomarkers Detecting Method for Plasma Volume Overload and Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Chronic Heart Failure Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel RBC indicator, ESI, is better than the traditional RBC indicators and is associated with CHF prevalence and in‐hospital death. RBC membrane lipidomics, Cer 18:0;O2/16:0, and LPE 18:0, are associated with plasma volume overload and MACE in CHF patients, but these plasma lipids could not.

Effects of adenotonsillectomy on plasma inflammatory biomarkers in obese children with obstructive sleep apnea: A community-based study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundObesity and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) are highly prevalent and frequently overlapping conditions in children that lead to systemic inflammation, the latter being implicated in the various end-organ morbidities associated with these

Sleep Deprivation Activates a Conserved Lactate‐H3K18la‐RORα Axis Driving Neutrophilic Inflammation Across Species

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep deprivation triggers systemic immune activation characterized by neutrophil accumulation and cytokine release. This study reveals a conserved metabolic‒epigenetic mechanism whereby lactate‐induced H3K18 lactylation upregulates RORα expression, promoting neutrophilic inflammation.

Some Viewpoints about Apnea of Prematurity in Neonates under Inguinal Herniorrhaphy: A Brief Review

open access: yesIranian Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2018
Inguinal hernia is more common in premature male babies. Using General Anesthesia (GA) for the repair operation may cause apnea in them. Caudal anesthesia on the other hand provides effective anesthesia and analgesia without the complication of GA.

Dual‐Graded Microstructure Engineering for Flexible Piezoresistive Sensors with High Sensitivity and Broad Linear Range in Physiological Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with dual‐graded microstructures achieves both high sensitivity (69.8 kPa⁻¹) and a broad linear range up to 300 kPa (R2 = 0.997). Synergizing structural deformation and tunneling conduction, it enables rapid, stable, and accurate detection of subtle physiological signals, offering a scalable and cost‐effective ...

Postoperative apnea among premature or anemic infants undergoing inguinal hernia repair

open access: yesIranian Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2017
Introduction: Premature or anemic newborns undergoing hernia repair are prone to more postoperative complications than full-term infants. The incidence of respiratory complications among these patients is more than 30%, being postoperative apnea the most
