A comparative study of the heterochromatin of Apodemus sylvaticus and Apodemus flavicollis

Chromosoma, 1989
The two closely related species Apodemus sylvaticus and Apodemus flavicollis (Muridae) differ in the distribution of their heterochromatin. Two major repetitive sequences known to occur in both species were isolated from A. flavicollis after digestion of total nuclear DNA with the restriction enzymes HindIII and EcoRI respectively and characterized in ...

Ultrasonic Behaviour of Apodemus sylvaticus and A. flavicollis

Oikos, 1977
Differences in ultrasonic behaviour were found between Apodemus sylvaticus (L.) and A. flavicollis (Melch.). The calls ofA. sylvaticus were detected mainly at about 70 kHz, those of A. flavicollis at 40-50 kHz. The two species also differed in the behavioural contexts in which ultrasounds were commonly emitted.

Discrimination of the sibling species Apodemus flavicollis and A. sylvaticus (Rodentia, Muridae)

Zoologischer Anzeiger - A Journal of Comparative Zoology, 2014
Karyotyping and several molecular methods have allowed successful identification of two morphologically similar wide-ranging Western Palearctic species, the yellow-necked field mouse Apodemus flavicollis (Melchior, 1934) and the long-tailed wood mouse A. sylvaticus (Linnaeus, 1758), but reliable species diagnosis on the basis of morphometric characters

Apodemus flavicollis (Yellow-necked mouse)

1971
These karyotypes are the gifts of Dr. B. Kral Brno, Czechoslovakia and come from bone marrow preparations of animals treated with Colcemid in vivo. The animals were collected in 1968 near Lednice, Southern Moravia, CSR.
