Abstract The yellow-necked field mouse, Apodemus flavicollis (Melchior, 1934), and the long-tailed field mouse, Apodemus sylvaticus (Linnaeus, 1758) are morphologically similar species, with largely overlapping geographical areas and almost equal ecological requirements.

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1973
Abstract 1. 1. In the two closely related rodent species, Apodemus sylvaticus and Apodemus flavicollis , thirty-three different protein markers and the chromosome banding pattern as produced by special staining techniques were compared. Breeding and interbreeding experiments were also performed. 2. 2.

Journal of Zoology, 1969
The main object of this study was to use discontinuous variation as a means of measuring divergence between populations of A. sylvaticus (L.) and A. flavicollis (Melchior) from Britain and Eurasia. Samples from 17 populations (671 skulls) were each classified for 20 discontinuous morphological variants.

The distribution of Apodemus flavicollis in Britain
Mammal Review, 1977ABSTRACTThe restricted distribution of the Yellow‐necked woodmouse (Apodemus flavicollis (Melchior)) in Britain is reviewed and compared with that of the widely distributed woodmouse (A sylvaticus (Linn.)). It appears that A. flavicollis occurs mostly in low‐lying woodland intermixed with arable land, although not all the data agree with this and the ...

Temperature of body and skin in Apodemus flavicollis Melch . was studied with electrical thermometer in laboratory during different seasons of a year. The clear localization of skin temperature was found. The skin temperature of legs, tail and ears depends on the environment temperature more than the temperature of other parts of the body surface ...

B chromosome polymorphism in populations of Apodemus flavicollis in Yugoslavia
Genetica, 1991Four populations of yellow necked mice Apodemus flavicollis were karyologically studied for the presence of B chromosomes. One or two B chromosomes were found in all populations except one, in frequencies which differ significantly. The Bs cannot be accurately distinguished from chromosomes of normal complement even after application of differential ...

Preliminary Characterisation of the Caudal Organ Secretion of Apodemus flavicollis
Nature, 1973THE existence of a secretory organ lying along the proximal third of the undersurface of the tail of the mouse Apodemus flavicollis has been known for some time1. Such organs are present in other species of the same genus2,3. The organ is composed of holocrine sebaceous tissue up to 1 mm deep and produces a thick milky exudant which can sometimes be ...

Genetic diversity Apodemus sylvaticus and Apodemus flavicollis in Lithuania
2013Mice of genus Apodemus are wide spred in Europe, western Asia and North Africa. Twenty one species are now recognized, but morfological similarity makes difficulties to recognize these species. Therer is a requirement of molecular markers to clear species identification. The aim of our investigation was to evalute genetic diversity of A. sylvaticus and
