Efficacy of targeted screening for familial hypercholesterolemia in children and adults aged <44 years: retrospective, prospective observational study [PDF]

open access: yesКардиоСоматика
BACKGROUND: Considering the high cardiovascular risk in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), early diagnosis and treatment are the basis for the prevention of vascular accidents.

Investigation on the Influence of Protein Corona and Platelet Adhesion on Storage Bag Surface on the Platelet Storage Lesion

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Platelet quality deteriorates during storage due to protein and platelet adhesion to current bag materials. Here, polymer coatings are identified that reduce adhesion and translated them to mini‐storage bags. Platelet quality are not impacted, despite significantly reducing adhesion.

The molecular basis of truncated forms of apolipoprotein B in a kindred with compound heterozygous hypobetalipoproteinemia.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1989
Krul et al. (1) have identified two truncated species of apolipoprotein B-100 in a kindred with familial hypobetalipoproteinemia. Five family members were identified who produce either one or both of two truncated apolipoprotein B-100 proteins estimated ...

Hepatic sortilin regulates both apolipoprotein B secretion and LDL catabolism.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2012
Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified a genetic variant at a locus on chromosome 1p13 that is associated with reduced risk of myocardial infarction, reduced plasma levels of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C), and markedly increased expression of ...

Coagulation Matters: ATIII‐Enriched Biomolecular Corona Enhances the Hemocompatibility of PEG Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering of a functional protein corona with a synergistic heparin‐ATIII complex significantly improves hemocompatibility of PEG nanoparticles. Through deliberate engineering of the protein corona, a 4‐fold reduction in coagulation activation (F1 + 2) without inducing adverse thromboinflammatory reactions (CD11b, C5a) is achieved without disrupting ...

Separation and quantification of apolipoprotein B-48 and other apolipoproteins by dynamic sieving capillary electrophoresis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1997
Apolipoprotein-B-48 is a structural protein exclusively associated with post-prandial lipoproteins (chylomicrons). Apolipoprotein B-48 would be a useful marker to monitor the kinetics of chylomicrons in vivo, however, its quantitation is limited because ...

Reengineering Endogenous Targeting Lipid Nanoparticles (ENDO) for Systemic Delivery of mRNA to Pancreas

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ENDO lipid nanoparticles containing cholecalciferol as a fifth component demonstrate mRNA delivery to the pancreas with 99% selectivity, including beta cells. This platform shows minimal toxicity and sustained protein expression for up to 3 days in a dose‐dependent manner, offering a novel approach to pancreas‐specific mRNA delivery and gene therapy ...

Identification of disulfide-linked apolipoprotein species in human lipoproteins

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1993
We wished to determine whether apolipoprotein C-IIToronto, a mutant form of apolipoprotein C-II that contains a C-terminal cysteine residue, exists as a monomeric species or as multiple disulfide-linked species in plasma lipoproteins.

Development and Validation of Machine Learning‐Based Marker for Early Detection and Prognosis Stratification of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructs a stacked multimodal machine learning model for nonalcoholic fattly liver disease (NAFLD) by integrating genetic and clinical features, and synthesize an in‐silico quantitative marker (ISNLD) that enables personalized risk stratification for intrahepatic and extrahepatic outcomes of high‐risk individuals of NAFLD.
