Abstract A circle of curvature $n\in \mathbb{Z}^+$ is a part of finitely many primitive integral Apollonian circle packings. Each such packing has a circle of minimal curvature $-c\leq 0$, and we study the distribution of $c/n$ across all primitive integral packings containing a circle of curvature $n$.

In die gees van die Dionisiese: Marlene van Niekerk se aanhangersbrief aan Freddy Mercury
Drawing on Nietzsche’s dichotomy between the Apollonian and Dionysian principles pertaining to classic tragedy, in this article, I consider the poem “Fan mail Freddy Mercury” by Marlene van Niekerk, from Kaar (2013) from that perspective.

Toward the “overthrow of Platonism”: Processist critical social ontology and ameliorative discourse
Abstract In this article, I argue that, for the purpose of developing an effective critical social ontology about gender groups, it is not simply sufficient to carve gender groups at their joints: one must have in view whether the metaphysical categories we use to make sense of gender groups are prone to ideological distortion and vitiation.

Degree distribution of random Apollonian network structures and Boltzmann sampling [PDF]
Random Apollonian networks have been recently introduced for representing real graphs. In this paper we study a modified version: random Apollonian network structures (RANS), which preserve the interesting properties of real graphs and can be handled ...

Cold Compaction and Macro‐Porosity Removal in Rubble‐Pile Asteroids: 1. Theory
Abstract Many asteroids are likely to be have been shattered by collisions into fragments and reaccumulated as gravitationally‐bound rubble piles. These bodies may contain large porosities, although this picture may be complicated by compaction inside the asteroid body. Estimates of asteroid mass and volume imply a negative correlation between size and

Polygon-Based Hierarchical Planar Networks Based on Generalized Apollonian Construction
Experimentally observed complex networks are often scale-free, small-world and have an unexpectedly large number of small cycles. An Apollonian network is one notable example of a model network simultaneously having all three of these properties.

Three‐Dimensional Discrete Element Analysis of Crushing Characteristics of Calcareous Sand Particles
Particle crushing is an important factor affecting the mechanical characteristics of calcareous sand, but at present, most of relative studying methods rely on physical experiments. In order to study the influence of particle crushing characteristics on the micromechanics of calcareous sand, the 14‐fragment replacement method satisfying the Apollonian ...

Reach‐Avoid Games with a Time Limit and Detection Range: A Geometric Approach
The reach‐avoid game theory is an ideal tool to handle the conflicts among intelligent agents and has been previously studied assuming full state information and no time limits on the players in the past decades. In this article, we extend the problem by requiring the defender to detect the attacker and adding maximum operation time constraints to the ...

The Madwoman in the Antique:Body and Gaze in Conrad’s ‘The Return’
“The Return” is often considered one of Conrad’s less successful works and yet it offers an acerbic, if oblique, critique of Victorian approach to gender and morality.
