High‐Resolution Fracture Dynamics Simulation of Pack‐Ice and Drift‐Ice Formation During Sea Ice Break up Events Using the HiDEM2.0 Code

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 18, 28 September 2024.
Abstract Creating accurate predictive models for drift and pack ice is crucial for a wide array of applications, from improving maritime operations to improving weather prediction and climate simulations. Traditional large‐scale sea ice dynamics models rely on phenomenological ice rheology to simulate ice movements.

Meter Against Essentialism

open access: yesThe German Quarterly, Volume 97, Issue 4, Page 455-471, Fall 2024.
Abstract Recent scholarship on poetic materiality has found itself caught between celebration of the way rhythm might link language and the body, on the one hand, and critiques of the way such a link can lead and has led to various types of essentialism, on the other.

Equivalence of the Apollonian and Its Inner Metric

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2010
We show that the equivalence of the Apollonian metric and its inner metric remains unchanged by the removal of a point from the domain. For this we need to assume that the complement of the domain is not contained in a hyperplane.

The Eighteenth‐Century Mentor Book

open access: yesJournal for Eighteenth-Century Studies, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 127-143, June 2024.
Abstract The modern definition and associations of the word ‘mentor’ — a guide or adviser to a less experienced person — can be traced back to François Fénelon's didactic novel, Les aventures de Télémaque, fils d'Ulysse (1699). The novel was one of the most widely read works of the eighteenth century, but its influence on British didactic literature ...

Estimate for the fractal dimension of the Apollonian gasket in d dimensions

open access: yes, 2010
We adapt a recent theory for the random close packing of polydisperse spheres in three dimensions [R. S. Farr and R. D. Groot, J. Chem. Phys. {\bf 131} 244104 (2009)] in order to predict the Hausdorff dimension $d_{A}$ of the Apollonian gasket in ...

Pelopidarum secunda: a ‘site of memory’ in the history of Elizabethan revenge tragedy

open access: yesRenaissance Studies, Volume 38, Issue 3, Page 394-415, June 2024.
Abstract Pelopidarum secunda is an understudied anonymous English adaptation of Seneca's Agamemnon and Sophocles' Electra. The play is preserved only in manuscript and was probably performed at Winchester College around 1590. Through a combination of Marvin Carlson's notions of ‘ghosting’ and of the ‘site of memory’ with a neo‐historicist approach, the

Explicit Formulas for the Complexity of Networks Produced by New Duplicating Corona and Cartesian Product

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
One important algebraic invariant in networks is complexity. This invariant ensures the accuracy and dependability of the network. In this paper, we employ a combinatorial approach to determine the graph’s complexity. A fundamental set of building blocks (basic graphs) will serve as the foundation for all the graphs we investigate, after which we will ...
