Detecting and Quantifying Hydrologic Change in Suburbanizing Watersheds: Role of Green Stormwater Infrastructure

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Results from a paired‐watershed BACI study in suburban Baltimore, MD showed that green stormwater infrastructure is highly effective at mitigating stormwater runoff during conversion of 13% of the treated watershed to development. The significant treatment effects based on the analysis of more than 200 storm events monitored during a 5.5‐year study ...

Using the tectophase conceptual model to assess late Triassic–Early Jurassic far-field tectonism across the South-central Barents Sea shelf

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The Upper Triassic–Lower Jurassic succession of the Barents Sea Shelf (BSS) represents one of Europe’s most prolific and strategic petroleum systems. This succession reflects various depositional environments and tectonostratigraphic events.

The Species-Area Relationship in the Late Ordovician: A Test Using Neutral Theory

open access: yesDiversity, 2013
The fundamental biodiversity number, θ, as proposed by Hubbell, should be positively correlated with province area. Because θ can be calculated from preserved relative abundance distributions, this correlation can be tested in the fossil record for ...

Origin, Recurrent Reactivations, and Tectonic Role of Transverse Zones in Thrust‐and‐Fold Belts: The Central Southern Alps (Italy)

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Transverse zones (TZs) in fold‐and‐thrust belts typically comprise strike‐slip to transpressional faults and related folds, oriented sub‐parallel to the regional shortening direction. These zones are typically associated with inherited faults or lateral stratigraphic changes, which promote strain partitioning, stress rotation, and kinematic ...

Rain‐on‐Snow Events Frequently Drive Peak Streamflow Across the Contiguous United States

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Rain‐on‐snow events occur when rain falls on a ripe snowpack, initiating rapid snowmelt that can produce extreme flooding in watersheds throughout the world. Rapid snowmelt during rain‐on‐snow flooding is primarily caused by the increase of net radiation (longwave) and turbulent fluxes during the event.

Examining Local Climate Variability in the Late Pennsylvanian Through Paleosols: An Example from the Lower Conemaugh Group of Southeastern Ohio, USA

open access: yesGeosciences, 2012
Three temporally close stratigraphic sections were excavated in Glenshaw Formation of Athens County, Ohio. The described units are Upper Pennsylvanian (Gzhelian, 305–302 Ma) and located in the distal portion of the Appalachian foreland basin.
