Apparent diffusion coefficient measurements in progressive supranuclear palsy

Neuroradiology, 2000
We measured the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), using diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and signal intensity on T2-weighted MRI in the cerebral white matter of patients with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and age-matched normal subjects.

Apparent Diffusion Coefficient Thresholds and Diffusion Lesion Volume in Acute Stroke

Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, 2013
Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) thresholds are used to determine acute stroke lesion volume, but the reliability of this approach and comparability to the volume of the magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging (MR-DWI) hyperintense lesion is unclear. We prospectively recruited and clinically assessed patients who had experienced acute ischemic

Apparent Diffusion Coefficient Approximation and Diffusion Anisotropy Characterization in DWI

2005
We present a new approximation for the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of non-Gaussian water diffusion with at most two fiber orientations within a voxel. The proposed model approximates ADC profiles by product of two spherical harmonic series (SHS) up to order 2 from High Angular Resolution Diffusion-weighted (HARD) MRI data.

Neuro-Behet's disease: analysis of apparent diffusion coefficients

Neuroradiology, 2003
Little is known about the diffusion properties of brain lesions in neuro-Behçet's disease (NBD). We looked at 19 NBD lesions (13 active, six chronic) in six patients, using diffusion-weighted MRI (DWI). We calculated the apparent diffusion coefficients (ADC) of the lesions and compared them with normal contralateral brain, expressing this ratio as ...

Diffusion-weighted MR Imaging with Apparent Diffusion Coefficient and Apparent Diffusion Tensor Maps in Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy

Radiology, 2003
To evaluate diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in patients with cervical spondylosis and/or myelopathy.A multishot echo-planar imaging sequence with calculation of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and apparent diffusion tensor (ADT) was applied in 36 patients with symptomatic cervical spondylosis.

Sinonasal secretions: evaluation by diffusion-weighted imaging and apparent diffusion coefficients

Clinical Imaging, 2008
This study retrospectively reviewed magnetic resonance images of 20 patients with sinonasal inflammatory diseases. Forty-four areas of sinonasal secretions were analyzed with correlation between the signal ratios on T2-weighted images and the diffusion-weighted imaging signal ratios or apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCs).

Apparent Diffusion Coefficient in Breast MRI

ISMRM Annual Meeting
Diffusion weighted Imaging (DWI) acquisitions are often part of breast cancer MRI protocols. The signal intensity decrease as a function of the b-value in diffusion imaging is non-linear and complex with inconsistent Apparent Diffusion Coefficients. In this abstract, we investigate ADC mapping computation and accuracy.

Apparent diffusion coefficient in vasogenic edema and reactive astrogliosis

Neuroradiology, 2007
Distinguishing between vasogenic edema and reactive astrogliosis may be difficult in some instances. This study was performed to test the hypothesis that diffusion-weighted (DW) imaging with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps can be used to differentiate these two types of changes. The study population included 11 patients with perilesional ...

Relationship between bone marrow cellularity and apparent diffusion coefficient

Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2001
AbstractThis study was performed to determine if there is a relationship between apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and cellularity of bone marrow of the posterior ilium. Four groups of various marrow cellularity underwent diffusion‐weighted echo‐planar imaging: 1) adults with normal hypocellularity (21 patients); 2) adults with normal ...

Correlating apparent diffusion coefficients with histopathologic findings on meningiomas

European Journal of Radiology, 2012
To determine whether the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) correlates with histopathologic findings and whether ADC values can be used to differentiate benign from atypical/malignant meningiomas.MR images were reviewed retrospectively in 138 patients with meningiomas treated between September 1997 and July 2003.
