Radio-optical scrutiny of compact AGN: Correlations between properties of pc-scale jets and optical nuclear emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Aims. We study the correlations between the VLBA radio emission at 15 GHz, extended emission at 151 MHz, and optical nuclear emission at 5100Å for a complete sample of 135 compact jets. Methods.

Some implications of sampling choices on comparisons between satellite and model aerosol optical depth fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The comparison of satellite and model aerosol optical depth (AOD) fields provides useful information on the strengths and weaknesses of both. However, the sampling of satellite and models is very different and some subjective decisions about data ...

Comparative studies of underwater light regimes in lakes of the East-Suwałki Lakeland

open access: yesLimnological Review, 2016
Secchi disc transparency and optical properties of water, based on measurements for downward irradiance using an underwater radiometer PER-700, were studied in 23 lakes of the Suwałki Landscape Park (SLP) in 2013.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Environmental niches and seasonal succession of phytoplankton assemblages in a subarctic coastal bay: Applications to remote sensing estimates

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
The seasonal and spatial variability of surface phytoplankton assemblages and associated environmental niches regarding major nutrients, physical (temperature and salinity), and optical characteristics (inherent and apparent optical properties) were ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

A Space Object Optical Scattering Characteristics Analysis Model Based on Augmented Implicit Neural Representation

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The raw data from ground-based telescopic optical observations serve as a key foundation for the analysis and identification of optical scattering properties of space objects, providing an essential guarantee for object identification and state ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Apparent rotation properties of space debris extracted from photometric measurements

open access: yes, 2018
Knowledge about the rotation properties of space debris objects is essential for the active debris removal missions, accurate re-entry predictions and to investigate the long-term effects of the space environment on the attitude motion change.

Underwater light field determined by water constituents in highly turbid water: the case of Taihu lake

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2013
The relationships between optical properties and water constituents in highly turbid productivewater were studied on the basis of the multiple bio-optical measurements and samplings of water constituents made during five cruises from 2006 to 2008 in ...
