Network Modelling of Apparent-Relative Permeability of Gas in Heavy Oils
Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology, 2004Abstract Some of the solution-gas drive heavy oil reservoirs known as foamy oil reservoirs, in Canada, Venezuela, and other countries have demonstrated a high primary oil recovery factor (>10%), a low producing gas-oil ratio, a low reservoir pressure decline, and a high oil production rate.

Permeability of valonia to water and solutes: Apparent absence of aqueous membrane pores
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1968Abstract The permeability of the marine alga Valonia ventricosa to water and small solutes was studied in cells perfused internally by two micropipets inserted into the vacuole. The protoplast of Valonia was highly permeable to alcohols but relatively impermeable to water and small hydrophilic solutes.

An Analytical Model of Apparent Gas Permeability for Tight Porous Media
Transport in Porous Media, 2015Simulation of fluid flow in tight rocks, such as shale gas reservoirs, has been a challenging task because of the coexistence of various flow regimes, including the continuum flow, slippage, transition flow, and Knudsen diffusion within the porous structure. Currently, both numerical and analytical methods have been applied to address this issue.

A Method of Calculation of Apparent Gas Permeability for Tight Porous Media
Transport in Porous Media, 2017Tight and shale gas reservoirs are characterized by pores in the range of micro- and nanometer. The description of the gas flow in such tight porous media is complicated by the coexistence of various flow regimes. Generally, porous media is represented by a bundle of tortuous capillaries and contributions of various flow regimes are incorporated by ...

Nanopores and Apparent Permeability of Gas Flow in Mudrocks (Shales and Siltstone)
Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology, 2009Abstract Gas-producing mudrock systems are playing an important role in the volatile energy industry in North America and will soon play an equally important role in Europe. Mudrocks are composed of very fine grained particles, and their pores are very small, at the scale of nanometers.

Effective Correlation of Apparent Gas Permeability in Tight Porous Media
Transport in Porous Media, 2009Gaseous flow regimes through tight porous media are described by rigorous application of a unified Hagen–Poiseuille-type equation. Proper implementation is accomplished based on the realization of the preferential flow paths in porous media as a bundle of tortuous capillary tubes.
