Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

A Contribution to the Study of Dutch Surnames on the Example of Surnames Motivated by the Appellative GRAAF [PDF]

open access: yesSuvremena Lingvistika, 2022
Rad se bavi analizom prezimena motiviranih apelativom graaf (hrv. grof). Takva prezimena potječu od naziva plemićkih titula u Nizozemskoj i Flandriji stoga su najprisutnija nizozemska prezimena.

Some characterizations of appell andℊ-appell polynomials

Annali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata, 1982
Several characterizations are given for the wellknown Appell polynomials and for their basic analogues: the ℊ-Appell polynomials defined by Equation (3.3)below. The main results contained in Theorems 1, 2and 3of the present paper, and the applications considered in Section 2,are believed to be new.
