Laparoscopic Mitrofanoff continent catheterisable stoma in children with spina bifida

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Paediatric Surgery, 2015
Background: In 1980, Mitrofanoff described the creation of an appendicovesicostomy for continent urinary diversion. This procedure greatly facilitates clean intermittent catheterisation in patients with neurogenic bladder. The purpose of our study was to

Are there disparities in access to robot‐assisted laparoscopic surgery among pediatric urology patients? US institutional experience

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urology, Volume 29, Issue 7, Page 661-666, July 2022., 2022
Objective Literature suggests access to robotic surgery varies by race and payer status. We seek to investigate whether disparities exist in robot‐assisted laparoscopic surgery among the pediatric urology population at our tertiary academic medical center and, if so, to find plausible reasons why.

Extraperitoneal kidney transplantation: a comparison between children weighting ≤15 kg and >15 kg. Experience of a single institution

open access: yesTransplant International, Volume 34, Issue 11, Page 2394-2402, November 2021., 2021
This retrospective study showed that extraperitoneal approach for kidney transplantation in low‐weight children did not increase the rate of surgical complications in comparison to normal‐weight children. One‐year estimated allograft survival was similar in the two groups. Therefore, this approach can be effectively use in low‐weight children.
