Bladder necrosis: ‘A man without a bladder’ [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2018
Since the use of antibiotics, bladder necrosis has become a rare condition. We report a case of bladder necrosis in a 90-year-old man following urinary retention. After insertion of a transurethral catheter (TUC), 2 L of urine was evacuated. In the following days, the TUC became intermittently blocked.

Combined exome and transcriptome sequencing of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer: associations between genomic changes, expression subtypes, and clinical outcomes

open access: yesGenome Medicine, 2022
Background Three-quarters of bladder cancer patients present with early-stage disease (non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, NMIBC, UICC TNM stages Ta, T1 and Tis); however, most next-generation sequencing studies to date have concentrated on later-stage ...

An unusual case of vaginal mass – subpubic cartilaginous cyst

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2021
Subpubic cartilaginous cyst is a rare form of ganglion cyst that arises on the inferior surface of the pubis symphysis. The pathophysiology is poorly understood but has been hypothesised to be secondary to mucinous degeneration of the pubic supporting ...

PD-L2 Is Constitutively Expressed in Normal and Malignant Urothelium

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
The use of immune checkpoint blockade, in particular PD-1 and PD-L1 inhibitors, is now commonplace in many clinical settings including the treatment of muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC).

The bladder or not the bladder that is the question! [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2014
We present a case of a 44-year-old woman who underwent a percutaneous patent foramen ovale (PFO) repair. The procedure was complicated by a retroperitoneal bleeding secondary to accidental puncture of the right iliac artery. Following the procedure the patient became hypotensive and complained of severe abdominal pain.

STAG2 Protein Expression in Non–muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer: Associations with Sex, Genomic and Transcriptomic Changes, and Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesEuropean Urology Open Science, 2022
Background: Mutations in STAG2 cause complete loss of STAG2 protein in approximately one-third of non–muscle-invasive bladder cancers (NMIBCs). STAG2 protein expression is easily determined via immunohistochemistry (IHC) and published data suggest that ...

A bladder‐to‐bladder cooling reflex in the cat. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, 1990
1. Reflex effects of cold stimulation of the lower urinary tract were studied in cats anaesthetized with alpha‐chloralose. The bladder and the urethra were catheterized for separate fluid instillations and the bladder pressure was monitored together with the evoked efferent nerve responses in pelvic nerve filaments. 2. A bladder cooling reflex could be
