Indentation and Applanation Tonometry in Rabbits

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1969
Two types of tonometers, indentation and applanation, were compared for their ability to accurately measure intraocular pressure (IOP) in rabbit eyes. Manometric measurements were made by vitreous cannulation to minimize the physiological and technical disadvantages associated with simultaneous aqueous chamber manometric measurement and tonometric ...

APPLANATION TONOMETRY AND CENTRAL CORNEAL THICKNESS

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1975
Readings with the Goldmann applanation tonometer were made at various intraocular hydrostatic pressures and compared with central corneal thickness and radius in rabbit and in man. Linear correlations were established between hydrostatic pressure and applanation readings, with correlation coefficients close to 1.0.

Goldmann Applanation Tonometry without Fluorescein

Optometry and Vision Science, 1981
Recently, there have been several suggestions that Goldmann applanation tonometry can be performed without fluorescein. In order to determine the clinical efficacy of performing Goldmann applanation tonometry without fluorescein, 100 consecutive patients had applanation tonometry performed without fluorescein (Ophthetic only) and with fluorescein ...

[Linearity of applanation tonometry].

Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 1984
A method has been developed for measuring intraocular pressure continuously. By comparing the results with theoretical models it has been established that only viscoelasticity of the sclera and cornea is able to compensate for rapid pressure fluctuations, whereas facility does this only to a minor degree.

Applanation tonometry for the evaluation of breast compressibility

Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1989
Capsular contracture is the main problem following breast augmentation with silicone implants. Subjective assessment has been the predominant method for evaluating breast firmness hitherto, although several objective methods have been described. In this prospective study applanation tonometry was used on 76 women following augmentation mammaplasty ...

Schiotz Tonometer Calibration and Applanation Tonometry

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1960
In his attempt to improve the 1954 calibration tables for the various plunger loads of the Schiotz tonometer, Friedenwald's major consideration was that such attempt should least disturb the calibration of the 5.5 gm. plunger load. His decision was greatly influenced by the agreement between the estimate of the mean intraocular pressure obtained by ...
