Modelling long-range-dependent Gaussian processes with application in continuous-time financial models [PDF]

open access: closedJournal of Applied Probability, 2004
This paper considers a class of continuous-time long-range-dependent Gaussian processes. The corresponding spectral density is assumed to have a general and flexible form, which covers some important and special cases. For example, the spectral density of a continuous-time fractional stochastic differential equation is included.

Mathematical modelling of translation of mRNA in eucaryotes; steady states, time-dependent processes and application to reticulocytest

open access: closedJournal of Theoretical Biology, 1980
Abstract Based on a kinetic model for the translation of mRNA the following conclusions are derived: 1. (1) Under normal conditions in a cell, initiation and elongation determine the rate of protein synthesis. The latter process turns out to be potentially even more important than the former.

Application of Variable Structure Models to Oscillatory and Spatially-Dependent Processes

open access: closedIndustrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1996
In this paper, the variable structure model (VSM) approach is applied to modeling and parameter estimation in processes exhibiting simple and complex relaxation oscillations. The approach reduces the full model to two simple submodels and permanently chooses the submodel which has a better performance in the description of the input−output behavior of ...

An application of time-dependent ARMA models to reliability-decay processes

open access: closedMicroelectronics Reliability, 1993
Abstract This paper describes a somewhat different approach to the analysis of failure data of systems that operate under varying operational and/or environmental conditions. Surprisingly enough, it was found during the course of investigations that if the failure times of a system follow either Rayleigh, Weibull or exponential distributions and if ...

Slepian models for X 2-processes with dependent components with application to envelope upcrossings

open access: closedJournal of Applied Probability, 1989
A Slepian model for the local behaviour near the level upcrossings of a x 2-process with dependent Gaussian components is presented. In case of independent components, this model is shown to take on a rather simple form, thereby simplifying earlier results by Aronowich and Adler.

Process-Dependent Circuit Modeling and Simulation of SOI JFETs: Digital VLSI Applications

open access: closedSIMULATION, 1993
Accurate circuit modeling and simulation of Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) enhancement and depletion Junction Field-Effect transis tors (JFETs) is presented. The nonuniformity in FET device parameters along the channel depth (due to fabrication processes), is taken into account. This is typical in SOI and other thin-film struc tures. Since SOI fabrication

Chain-length-dependent termination rate processes in free-radical polymerizations. 2. Modeling methodology and application to methyl methacrylate emulsion polymerizations

open access: closedMacromolecules, 1993
Results are presented from modeling of extensive methyl methacrylate seeded emulsion polymerization data. Both chemically initiated and γ radiolysis initiated experiments were modeled; in the latter type of experiments the system is removed from the γ-source, thereby providing kinetic data which are particularly sensitive to termination processes ...

Strategies for Model Simplification and Data Reduction in Holographic Virtual Prototyping and Product Visualization Through Application Dependent Model Pre-Processing

open access: closedVolume 2: 29th Computers and Information in Engineering Conference, Parts A and B, 2009
Three-dimensional (3D) displays are increasingly becoming common output devices for design support systems. They are widely used in applications such as virtual prototyping e.g. for visualization of product data and for concepts demonstration. Holographic displays are among the visualization devices that are capable of generating suitable 3D virtual ...

Mixture model of generalized chain-dependent processes and its application to simulation of interannual variability of daily rainfall

open access: closedJournal of Hydrology, 2007
Summary This study is devoted to simulation of the interannual variability of daily rainfall, such as the mean and variance of seasonal rainfall totals and the correlation between seasonal rainfall totals and a seasonal climate variable (e.g., an index of atmospheric or oceanic circulation).
