Task mapping on a dragonfly supercomputer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The dragonfly network topology has recently gained traction in the design of high performance computing (HPC) systems and has been implemented in large-scale supercomputers.

Enhancements in reservoir flood risk mapping: example application for Ulley

open access: yes, 2014
In July 2007, at Ulley Reservoir, South Yorkshire, a catastrophic dam failure was narrowly avoided due to emergency preventative actions. During the event, a number of homes were evacuated and roads were closed for precautionary measures.

Super-Resolution Reconstruction and Its Application Based on Multilevel Main Structure and Detail Boosting

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Vivid main structure and rich texture detail are important factors with which to determine the quality of high-resolution images after super-resolution (SR) reconstruction.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Rejection sampling in demand systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We illustrate the method of rejection sampling in a Bayesian application of a new approach toı estimating Demand Systems. This approach, suggested by Varian (1990), is based on a generalization of Afriat's (1967) efficiency index.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Fine-Tuning LLM-Assisted Chinese Disaster Geospatial Intelligence Extraction and Case Studies

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
The extraction of disaster geospatial intelligence (DGI) from social media data with spatiotemporal attributes plays a crucial role in real-time disaster monitoring and emergency decision-making. However, conventional machine learning approaches struggle
