Application of control theory to macro-economic models
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1986Abstract Economic forecasts are a projection of past historic data based on a mathematical model of the economy. Many assumptions (i. e. guesses) have to be made in setting up runs on the model; not all will be justified by events. Hence a wide variety of predictions can exist even for one model, and for any given national economy ...

An application of fuzzy set theory to inventory control models
Computers & Industrial Engineering, 1997A method for solving an inventory control problem, of which input data are described by triangular fuzzy numbers will be presented here. The continuous review model of the inventory control problem with fuzzy input data will be focused in, and a new solution method will be presented.

Applications of optimum control theory to agroecosystem modelling
Ecological Modelling, 1999Abstract This contribution proposes an application of ecological models in the framework of optimum control theory. A typical example of a simulation model, which describes processes of an agricultural ecosystem, is used to derive optimum management strategies: fertilising schemes and crop rotations. Several assessment scenarios of production schemes

Application of non-linear control theory to a model of deep brain stimulation
2011 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2011Deep brain stimulation (DBS) effectively alleviates the pathological neural activity associated with Parkinson's disease. Its exact mode of action is not entirely understood. This paper explores theoretically the optimum stimulation parameters necessary to quench oscillations in a neural-mass type model with second order dynamics.

Applications of Lie Group Theory to the Modeling and Control of Multibody Systems
Multibody System Dynamics, 1999The author presents a method for using Lie group theory for the modeling and control of open-loop rigid-joint or elastic-joint mechanical systems. The governing equations are given in a vector parametric form suited for the application of Lie algebra methods.

Theory and applications of HVAC control systems – A review of model predictive control (MPC)
Building and Environment, 2014This work presents a literature review of control methods, with an emphasis on the theory and applications of model predictive control (MPC) for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Several control methods used for HVAC control are identified from the literature review, and a brief survey of each method is presented.

UPFC-unified power flow controller: theory, modeling, and applications
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1998This paper describes the theory and the modeling technique of a flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) device, namely, unified power flow controller (UPFC) using an Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) simulation package. The UPFC, in this paper, consists of two solid-state voltage source inverters which are connected through a ...

Study on fuzzy optimization theory, model and its application in flood control operations
2010 Seventh International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2010Flood control decisions are often involved with quantitative and qualitative criteria. In this paper, a fuzzy model is presented for flood control operations. Based on dual comparison, two models computing relative membership grades with qualitative and quantitative criteria are established, respectively.

Characteristic modeling theory and its applications in rendezvous and docking control
2015 34th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2015In this talk, we give an introductory overview of characteristic modeling and characteristic model based control. First, we review its basic concept, key features, and underlying mechanism. Then, we overview the controller design process based on characteristic model.
