Abstract A technique for the determination of the pore size distribution of molecular sieve materials is described. This method is based on the determination of the microporous volume accessible to molecular probes of different sizes. The method is used to follow the molecular sieve structure which develops during the pyrolysis of polysilastyrene ...

ON SIEVE METHODS AND SOME OF THEIR APPLICATIONS
2005Let \(v_k\) be a positive number such that between \(x - x^{1/v_k}\) and \(x\) for sufficiently large \(x\) there exists an integer with at most \(k\) prime factors. The author proves that \(k = v + w\) where \(v\) \((= v_k)\) is an integer and \(w\) is the least integer satisfying \[ \log [(5v-w)/(w+5)] \leq 1,3259 (w - 0,1665).

The Method of Sieves. A Survey of Recent Applications.
1985Abstract : The method of sieves is a technique of nonparametric estimation in which estimators are restricted by an increasing sequence of subsets of the parameter space with the subsets indexed by the sample size. The need for this technique arises in situations where the parameter space is too large for the existence or consistency of unconstrained ...

Bayes Empirical Estimation by the Method of Sieves with some Applications
1997Let X be a random variable with the density function f(x|γ). Assume that the parameter γ is also a random variable with unknown a priori density θ(γ). In the paper the problem of approximation of a priori density via sieve is considered. The estimate obtained is further used to approximation of Bayes estimator of γ and Bayes risk by some Bayes ...
