Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Teaching Methods Used in Primary Education for Making Physical Education Class More Effective

open access: yesPhysical Education Theory and Methodology, 2018
The objective is to demonstrate the importance of games that involve movement and of applicative pathways planning for making the class of physical education and sports in primary education more effective. Materials and methods. The participants in the

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

-(k)i eta -ra

open access: yesAnuario del Seminario de Filología Vasca "Julio de Urquijo", 2012
In this paper, I will propose that the Basque inflectional morpheme -(k)i is an applicative morpheme which 'applies' (dative) object arguments to the structure.

Applicative Approach to Risk Management [PDF]

open access: yesRevista de Management Comparat International, 2011
Order, symmetries, correspondences and proportionalities that served as hypothesis for any economical theories are frequently infirmed by the contemporary reality.

Design Environments for Complex Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The paper describes an approach for modeling complex systems by hiding as much formal details as possible from the user, still allowing verification and simulation of the model.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...
