Applying Information Economics and Imprecise Probabilities to Data Collection in Design
Computers and Information in Engineering, 2005One important aspect of the engineering design process is the sequence of design decisions, each consisting of a formulation phase and a solution phase. As part of the decision formulation, engineers must decide what information to use to support the decision. Since information comes at a cost, a cost-benefit trade-off must be made.

NETNOMICS: Economic Research and Electronic Networking, 2016
Economists unsatisfied with the basic neoclassical assumptions of rational economic actors and economic evolution towards equilibrium states founded the evolutionary economic approach. Economic conditions on exchange of technology and information : cournot's model applied to demand information risk in China [PDF]
A foreign firm is confronted with a demand information risk in the emerging Chinese market, resulting from information disparity between a foreign firm and a Chinese firm. This study analyzes such demand information risk and uses microeconomic theory to derive a management strategy. There are two main conclusions.

Game theory models applied to economic systems: their information, structure and stability
International Journal of Systems Science, 1982Recent applications of game theory models to economic systems have increasingly emphasized the role played by information in microeconomic models of imperfectly competitive markets. This required a more precise description of the demand and supply functions in the market and how signals or messages are processed and conveyed.

Essays on applied information economics theory
2013This dissertation contains two essays on applied microeconomic theory, each addressing situations of asymmetric information between economic agents. The first essay develops a theoretical model to illustrate how a short-termist board with positive inside information can use disclosed executive compensation to credibly signal its optimism to the less ...

Imposing Smoothness Priors in Applied Welfare Economics: An Application of the Information Contract Curve to Environmental Regulatory Analysis [PDF]
Economic effects of public policy alternatives often are analyzed with simulation models. The value of simulation is enhanced when model parameters can credibly be estimated econometrically. But unrestricted estimation can be expected to result in problematic estimates, for example, estimated parameters contrary in sign to what economic theory dictates.

Japanese Economy, 2008
This article surveys the use of economic analysis in Japanese antimonopoly cases in comparison with the use of circumstantial evidence in criminal code cases. It introduces the economic thinking to be applied in uncovering secret collusive schemes, especially in proving the exchange of information.

An experimental analysis of bounded rationality: Applying insights from behavioral economics to information systems [PDF]
The paradigm of bounded rationality considers the limited ability of individuals to make consistent and rational choices. Due to the scarcity of research on this phenomenon in information systems, we conducted an experimental study investigating decision-making regarding risk preferences and social preferences.

AbstractIronically, although much work has been done on elucidating algorithms for enabling scientists to efficiently retrieve relevant information from the glut of data derived from the efforts of the Human Genome Project and other similar projects, little has been performed on optimizing the levels of data economy across databases.
