Medium-Wave Infrared Static Fourier Transform Spectrometer Based on Micro-Optical Elements
In recent years, various fields have established an urgent need for real-time online measurement of infrared spectra. To this end, reducing the weight and size of infrared spectrometers is particularly important.

Image sharpening metrics and search strategies for indirect adaptive optics [PDF]
Adaptive optics is concerned with the correction of turbulence induced aberrations and mis-alignments in optical systems. It is an expensive and complicated technology which has been developed for astronomy and defence applications.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Joint Dense 3D Reconstruction Method for Endoscopic Images of Weak Texture Scenes
Endoscopic inspection is an important non-destructive testing method. Traditional 3D endoscopic reconstruction methods, such as polarization reconstruction and shading reconstruction, have the drawbacks of not determining the object’s actual size ...

Interferometric nulling of four channels with integrated optics
S.7449-7454Nulling interferometry has been identified as a competitive technique for the detection of extrasolar planets. In its basic form, the technique consists of combining out-of-phase a single pair of telescopes to effectively null the light of a ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Imaging arbitrary incoherent source distributions with near quantum-limited resolution
We demonstrate an approach to obtaining near quantum-limited far-field imaging resolution of incoherent sources with arbitrary distributions. Our method assumes no prior knowledge of the source distribution, but rather uses an adaptive approach to ...

Micro-machined membrane deformable mirrors for cryogenic adaptive optics [PDF]
In this Thesis, the suitability of 37 actuator Micro-machined membrane deformable mirrors (MMDM) for adaptive optics at cryogenic temperatures is evaluated. A method is described to safely cool MMDMs to 78K. The initial surface figures of three MMDMs are

Roadmap on transformation optics [PDF]
Transformation Optics asks Maxwell’s equations what kind of electromagnetic medium recreate some smooth deformation of space. The guiding principle is Einstein’s principle of covariance: that any physical theory must take the same form in any ...

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
