System Design and Performance Characterization of a MEMS-Based Laser Scanning Time-of-Flight Sensor Based on a 256 $\times$ 64-pixel Single-Photon Imager

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2013
This paper reports on a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system that incorporates a microelectromechanical-system (MEMS) mirror scanner and a single-photon imager.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Enhancement of Coherent X ray Diffraction from Nanocrystals by Introduction of X ray Optics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Coherent X-ray Diffraction is applied to investigate the structure of individual nanocrystalline silver particles in the 100nm size range. In order to enhance the available signal, Kirkpatrick-Baez focusing optics have been introduced in the 34-ID-C ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Adaptive Optics: introduction to the feature issue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This Applied Optics feature issue is a companion to the Journal of the Optical Society of America A feature issue on the same topic. The feature highlights the expansion of adaptive optics to different applications as well as its development to routine ...

Wavelength flattened directional couplers for mirrorsymmetric interferometers

open access: yes, 2005
In the context of guided optics, we derive, analytically and geometrically, a rigorous general criterion to design wavelength insensitive interferometers with mirror symmetry, which are needed for wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

A novel fiber optic temperature sensor based on CCT measurement and tipped with a PDMS-YAG:Ce phosphor mixture

open access: yesiScience
Summary: This paper presents a novel fiber-optic temperature sensor based on correlated color temperature (CCT) measurement. The sensor is formed by a homogeneous mixture of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and cerium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG:Ce ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Numerical study of light correlations in a random medium close to Anderson localization threshold

open access: yes, 2004
We applied finite difference time domain (FDTD) algorithm to the study of field and intensity correlations in random media. Close to the onset of Anderson localization, we observe deviations of the correlation functions, in both shape and magnitude, from
